Loads of mates who are Hull fans, they're gutted.

About being Hull fans or your mates?

Leicester were a mess behind the scenes even when O'Neill was incharge.

Yeah but Taylor made sure they were a mess on the pitch as well. He's a lower div manager, Charlton are making a big mistake.

Disagree, got Hull playing good football with consecutive promotions, made some very good signings (albeit backed by a decent chairman there) and an excellent England U-21 record. Think he'll do fine there.

In the lower divisions and with young kids, I'm sure he's fine but when it comes to competing in the Premiership and finding suitable players to do so he has already proved himself clueless.

Yeah, but won't somebody think of the poor English managers, snubbed for the top jobs again?!

Akinbiyi notwithstanding (who will be in the Prem next year anyway), I think he's a decent manager. We'll see though, it'll be hard at Charlton with the Curbishley hangover and not loads of money.

Remember he has Bent, whom he's worked with previously. Think he's going to be very good for Bent'd development, trusts him. Unless he leaves!

He made Fashion Victim England captain. End. Of.

At the time, he was the only serious candidate though.

At the time Sol Campbell was a fixture in the England defence and captain of his club. Is it just me who thinks that made him a serious candidate?

His recent injury problems may have been forseen by Guru Taylor though, maybe?

TBH, forgot about Campbell.

Grauniad's Peter Williams said it best: "When Taylor gave Beckham the armband, he did not imagine that the appointment would necessarily be endorsed by Eriksson. He was simply giving the job, as my colleague David Lacey put it, to the most senior member of a junior squad. And also, by some distance, the most famous."
