I couldn't see this anywhere else, but I'm sure that I'll be wrong and told off......

After scoring in the FA Cup final victory over West Ham, Djibril Cisse has pleaded with Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez to keep him at Anfield.

Since his multi-million pound move from Auxerre in 2004 the French striker has failed to fully convince on Merseyside, and has been continually linked with a return to his home country.

Marseille were circling in January, and Ligue 1 champions Lyon were recently reported to hold an interest in the flamboyant front man.

Benitez could be ready to dispose of the French international as he has preferred Peter Crouch and Robbie Fowler in recent weeks, although Cisse has also performed on the right wing for The Reds this season.

Following on from his Millennium Stadium heroics, Cisse has now declared he is desperate to stay at Anfield after the World Cup finals.

"I have done my best in the little bit of time I have had to play, but he is the boss and he will decide no matter what I say," said Cisse.

"I can't do any more. I want to stay at Liverpool and it won't be my decision to leave the club.

"If I go then it will not come from my side.

"There will not be time to speak to the manager before I leave for Germany.

"I am hoping that when I come back we will have time to talk, and I will tell him that I do not want to leave.

"I want to stay in England, and I want to stay in Liverpool."

Meanwhile Liverpool's preparations for next season continue as chief executive Rick Parry will reportedly meet with former Oxford United chairman Robin Herd on Monday to discuss potential investment in the club.

Herd is acting on behalf of European investors and his proposal could result in funds being provided for new players as well as helping to finance the move to a new stadium, with the current power structure at Anfield remaining unchanged.
