Guest Kev Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Alan Wiley the referee. Not one of my favourites, but I thought he had an absolute cracking game and contributed to marvellous match.
Guest Garstonite Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Agree with that. Wasn't particularly hard, but another ref may have slowed the pace down unnecessarily.

jimmylibel Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Thought he was too slow to get the cards out in the first 20 mins. Two West Ham players should have been booked. Other than that I thought he did well.

boohog Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Early on their players were barging our players when we were lining up to shoot. There should have been a couple of yellows for it as it was intentional, and frankly I think tactical.
smithdown Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Did well, when Cisse got a cob on with the full back in the first half over the throw in a lesser ref would have been dishing out a yellow.

He allowed for nerves etc and the players responded to him. But if there were 7/8 yellows deserved then there should be 7/8 yellows. By not booking the West Ham players early on he was effectively penalising us. What if Konchesky or whoever had put in a bad tackle that denied us a chance on goal (without being last man) at some other point in the game for which he was only booked? We'd rightly be annoyed that he wasn't sent off.

Agreed, pissed me off early on they were commiting a few cynical fouls, Konchesky's especially was a stonewall booking even if it was straight from kick off. Overall he done alright but Konchesky should of been booked and Fletcher should of aswell.
HeWonItFromBrock Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Actually thought he gave us a few soft free kicks myself later on - not complaining like.

My Missus made a point of saying "oo-er, they're a bit friendly aren't they?" so I'm fairly sure the hugfest began before the game.
Guest Sabre Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 He gave them a couple too. Sami was given a foul against right on the edge of our area for nothing other than standing there!
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Never even noticed the ref. Always a good sign.Nor did I, but then again, I was leathered. Oh, btw...Romario
