Guest Makaveli Smith Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 It is very possible that I am however, take a look at Gerrards 2nd goal... why does he flick Riise's hand off him like that? Does he not want Riise to celebrate with him or something? I do tend to watch players reactions to eachother intently and I do it for a reason. I would like to know about the overall mood in the camp and I would be interested to see what players like and dislike eachother. It's very important to have a good atmosphere in the dressing room, but thats there's always going to be some problems. If anyone knows anything , I'd be interested to hear it. I'll add to that, there are several angles of him and the other celebrating but from the close up one from the front you can make out that Gerrard even makes a bit of a sulk just before he pulls Riise's arm off him. I don't think its down to arrogance, I wouldn't say he's much of a person for that kinda thing.

Maldini Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I always get the impression Riise is one of those guys who is alright most of the time but can get really really annoying sometimes. Stevie kind of puts up with him and JAR thinks he's his best mate. Don't think there was anything in what you say though, more a case of Stevie wanting to do his own celebration. Stevie said after the game that the spirit in the camp is brilliant.
fyds Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 (edited) Well JAR is a Ginge - and we all know how annoying they can be. Edited May 15, 2006 by fyds
Guest Evil_Ways Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Riise seems like a bit of an imbecile at times.Especially during celebrations, i suppose it's that ginger gene of his.

Guest Evil_Ways Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Or when he's texting chicks Yep it's playing tricks then aswell
Koogan Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I thought Gerrard's celebration looked uncharacteristically c0cky... It was a solo effort, but still, all that tapping his name on the back instead of the crest on the chest... Actually, I was expecting the cradle celebration routine...

It was a solo effort, but still, all that tapping his name on the back instead of the crest on the chest... Actually, I was expecting the cradle celebration routine...he banged the crest on the shirt after his first goal.. and if i was him i'd be eternally cocky - the boy's a fkin legend! the cradle routine is old hat now - he maybe should have put his thumb in his mouth like a baby.. never seen that before!!!!!!!

If I'd scored that goal I'd have climbed to the roof of the stadium and wouldn't leave til they changed the name of the ground
Guest Sabre Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I agree with Maldini. Looks to me that Stevie isn't too bothered by Riise but Riise is determined to be his best mate and probably gets quite annoying from time to time. That said, it doesn't appear like there's any problem there.
abuusayd Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 On the topic of frosty relationships on the pitch Finnan and Cisse's looks a bad one. The body language between the two and not passing to one another is apparent.
Beardsley Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I saw that reaction too, and thought the same as you. If I remember correctly, Elisa said JAR was a d******d. Here in Norway, he was riddiculed after his texting habbits was known (but then again, we norwegians can't really handle people who have become successful).
JohnnyH Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Funny, but anytime you see footage of Gerrard on the pitch before or after the game (for example the walkaround at the hotel, istanbul celebrations, etc) Riise is always standing beside him. I actually think that Riise idolises Gerrard and wants to be him. I think Stevie also likes Riise (but just not as much...)
Swipe Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I think they're the bestest friends ever and they'll always be bestest friends for ever and ever and ever.

Guest evil_billy Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Could it be that he was fookin wrecked and someone leaning on him was weighing him down. I know when i'm wrecked, say after taking the stairs in work, someone could put a paper clip on me and nearly knock me down.
Dule Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 JAR seems like a good bloke, just a bit of a try hard sometimes.
Gomez Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 JAR seems like a good bloke, just a bit of a try hard sometimes. I like Riise, it's clear that playing for Liverpool means so much to him.
Bailo Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 This thread is hilarious. I saw JAR and Stevie G at the darts on TV a while back, looked like they were the best of chums.
Swipe Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I once saw Stevie and JAR out in the park with a few others flying kites. You could so tell that the only reason Stevie let JAR hang out with him was cos he had the best kite and Stevie wanted a go on it.
Mevster Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 riise is quoted as saying that he went over to gerrard and thankhim for bailing liverpool out of the hole they were in and that he thought stevie was one fo the best players in the world (im paraphrasing) a*** kisser ;-)
