I had a really bad feeling about the game. All week. I was sure we were going to lose. I'm not superstitious, but I was looking for Omens in everything, and every omen I saw was bad.

The fact that it's yonks since an underdog won the Cup. It has to happen again, yesterday was to be the day.

We'd won our last 11 or 12 in all competitions. Just like ManUre at home to Sunderland, that run has to end. Yesterday was to be the day.

Before yesterday, the last 10 FA Cups have been won by Arsenal (4), ManUre (3), Chelsea (2) and us. Someone outside those 4 clubs has to win the cup again. Yesterday was to be the day.

3 freakish/fortuitous goals conceded - when was the last time we conceded 3? - we had to burst the feckin net 3 times. At 2-0 a disallowed goal, it wasn't to be our day.

Even when it got to pennos. We'd won 8 of 9 penno s/o's we've been. This had to be the first final we lose on pens.

Didi's pen - I was thinking more Birmingham than Istanbul.

It's been a long and enjoyable season. Just thank feck this wasn't one game too many.

WE WON THE CUP :woohoo:

i think the Hammers name was on the cup but the reds just refused to acknowledge it!

3 freak goals

injuries to kewell and alonso, coinciding with garcia's suspension (who said the hammers would miss mullins more than we'd miss luis), meaning we were short of creativity

1 disallowed red goal

everyone now knows they're in for a fight when they take us on!

Walking out the ground I heard some fella say " I hope they all know now that yer need to score more than 3 against us in a cup final to win it"

I was going to post this on Friday but forgot...honestly.

Liverpool will win on pens - and I'll tell you why afterwards.

There were so many similarities to the first final at Cardiff against Birmingham City.

1) Struggling for a ticket.

2) It cost me nothing to get there.

3) I went with the same people for both finals.

4) Had to take a night off work for both finals.

5) Ant thought I was going to surprise him with a ticket for both finals. [bad dad]

we won it because we will not be beaten. not even the gods can conspire against us when we see fit. this is rafas way.

there's two ways to win, we either do it by outplaying, or we do it through sheer force of will. this was the latter, and if you want to beat us, you better be ready to prise our cold dead fingers from whatever cup we're playing for.

when the Konchesky goal went in i thought "this isn't meant to be".. it was like their destiny or something.. thankfully though, someone decided otherwise..

We won cos we were wearing red and they were in a white jersey.....

With Ron Greenwood and then John Lyall both passing away I honestly thought their name was on the cup. Plus they had the 'lucky' hotel as well.

I was never confident.

I was more confident getting beat 2-0 than 3-2

Hang on a cotton-pickin' second actually: what's the stitchy with that now? Does Saturday count as the 12th win seeing as we won the tie or does it count as "12th game drawn"? Forgot to ask that.

yeah, which is why the Konchesky one bothered me most.. it was like "no matter what you's do we'll just fluke one after it"

West Ham played well, but their goals were still an oggie, a mistake and a fluke.

think that was the point i texted a couple of mates with 'we're not meant to win this'.

it did look that way.. i turned to my cousin said the same - their name was on the cup at that point.. even Pardew said something similar and went on that "only a 35 yard screamer from Gerrard" could have stopped them.. well.............. :D

Just think - in the calendar year to today, we have won the European Cup, Super Cup, Youth Cup and FA Cup. We also collected a club record number of points in the premiership, broke records for consecutive wins, clean sheets, the list goes on.

Great teams find a way to win. They nick results despite all the odds and never accept defeat. Players step up to the mark when needed and the team has characters and strong leaders running through the spine. This is very, very close to being a great team.

Exciting times...

We won because we are the better team. All credit to the Irons for putting up a good fight but really, their goals were crap while ours were brilliant. We scored proper goals, West Ham's goals were all lucky, we were deserved winners.

a positive post from macca. of course in the pub he was changing his mind every 30 seconds about our chances. and the fecker soaked me in beer on one of the goals.

Kronic brew at 9am is NOT a way to start the day.

Loved the comment I heard from a Hammer who said, "It's about time they put bloody Roy of the Rovers back in his comic." :D:D

Mark & I went to Balhazar afterwards with the ladies. I nearly got turfed out. I was repeatedly singing Ring of Fire, getting the bairn to shout 'Bill Shankly' over & over and making her do (assisted) cartwheels. I then finished off with a $30 glass of cognac...

I suspect I would have joined you if I was staying in NYC saturday instead of having to get back to NH

I felt the same leading up to the final in 2001 esp when David Rocastle (Rip) died and the a*** were dedicating the final to him.
