McBain Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 This is probably one for people from abroad on here. I'm just wondering what do you think are the expected line ups from your country for this summer? I'm looking at a few bob on top goalscorer for one thing, but i'm also interested in who's gonna be playing
McBain Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Irish and Danish and Noggy forumites should look away now
_00_deathscar Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 And Hong Kong forumites too But I'll be rooting for Spain anyways
libero Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Irish and Danish and Noggy forumites should look away nowDont forget us Jocks Although for the duration of the tournament I will have my face blacked up, wear a funky dreadlock wig and will be rooting for Trinidad and Tobago. Nothing to do with the fact they are playing England oh no nothing to do with that at all...... Does anyone know the national dress of Paraguay??? Got my Ulrika Johnson outfit for the Sweden game....
Bo Benn Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Pretty easy to pick out our XI: Isaksson Alexandersson Mellberg Lucic Edman LinderothWilhelmsson Ljungberg Svensson Ibrahimovic Larsson Allthough we seem to play better when Ljungberg is at CM it usually looks like this. We will kick some serious English ass, mind
_00_deathscar Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Got my Ulrika Johnson outfit for the Sweden game.... I'd watch it - Sven might be temped to come and shag you.

tomas Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 no kallstrom? Probably not I'm afraid. The manager always favours Anders Svensson as the offensive midfielder
Guest Aussie_Red Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Even though I'm not a fan of the team, as much as England (birth place), I could pass some thoughts on the Australian team. In my view Australia's strong point is most certainly their fantastic midfield. It's a very strong midfield, I would go as far to say one of the strongest in the tournament. As long as Guus Hiddink uses them properly. If you want a top scorer from the Australian team, choose either Thompson, Cahill, Kewell or Aloisi. Here is their squad. They have a tough group with Brazil, Croatia and Japan. Every one of those teams will be a massive challenge and if Australia can get past the group stage I predict that they will go fairly far as one of the dark horses of the tournament. A lot of the players are very versatile and the main fifteen players will be hard to predict properly, so I'll just highlight the key players. The likely formation is either 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. Their key players are Schwarzer, Moore, Grella, Bresciano, Cullina, Cahill, Kewell, Thompson, Aloisi and Viduka. Trust me, the unknowns to you guys will be some of the surprise stars of the World Cup if Australia progress far enough. Bresciano, Cullina and Grella are fantastic central players, and if they are involved in a proper team system can be as effective as the likes of Lampard and Gerrard. Archie Thompson could turn out to be the surprise goal scorer of the tournament if the team can get far enough, and he might be worth a small bet for top scorer. Their weakest point will most certainly be their poor defence, especially facing the counter attack since they are all quite old and slow. Hopefully they have some good defensive tactics because it will be their downfall. The weakest point is the wing defence, especially the left back position. Any exposure to the wing defence will really unsettle the two slow centre halves, especially if they have to cover due to the general attacking nature of all of the full backs. Australia could easily be knocked out of the first stage, just as easily as they could make their way to the quarter finals.

No Roque Junior? They'll win it again so.. Luisao is a rock. I'd say it was a tough call between Fred and Nilmar fo the last place..

Could do with a decent keeper, whats happened to Marcos who played last world cup he was decent for a brazilian keeper. Juan is s***, should have or Filipe(udinese) or Alex(psv) instead. Think Alves is better than Cicinho , and Rob Carlos has looked on his last legs lately. Suprised Alex(Fenerbache) isn't in the squad he's pretty popular in Brazil. Don't rate Robinho myself. I thought Baiano(Celta) had done quite well this season and should have been in with a chance. Edited May 15, 2006 by galés rojo

Burdisso has hardly played well for Inter but the other two have.
