Romario Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 What a magnificent pro he is. 2 hours of intense footie and he still has the nuts to step forward and take a peno. Fair enough he missed but during the game I thought he was excellent yet again and I was surprised he had the legs to carry on.Hopefully Sami and Hamann will be kept on ice for another season or two to be played when it really fecking counts. While I'm here a special mention to Hamann as well. Simple solid and mature. Like a great old oak tree. 2 feckin brilliant servants to the club. What have they won with us now? 2 League cups, 2 FA cups, A super cup, A charity shield, A uefa cup and the European cup??? Anything I've left out?? Amazing players. I salute you both......
Powelly Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 See him take on a few of their defenders and have a shot? Well good!
Benitez Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 while those around him where dropping like flies, Sami kept on going. Best £2.6 mill this club will ever spend.
Cooldude Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 He thought he was Ronaldinho with that turn and shot htere :kol:
Maharajkumar of Vizianagram Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 He thought he was Ronaldinho with that turn and shot htere :kol: On a dfferent note, where were you tonight mate? I was at the Celtic club meself
Bjarkinn Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Ahh it would be so nice if he had scored.. LEGEND!!!!
stressederic Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 The man is a total legend. Should never be taking a penalty mind you. Don't let the centerbacks take penalties, no good will ever come from it.

Don't let the centerbacks take penalties, no good will ever come from it. i really think the reason he took the peno, is cos our wondeful old Sami was the freshest guy on the pitch! Just like Rafa picked the subs in Istanbul, and JAR, who is a duracel bunny, today he went for the freshest again. And Sami was that!
Guest Sabre Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I was so wishing his turn and shot had gone in - would have been the best goal ever scored by a defender.
stressederic Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I was so wishing his turn and shot had gone in - would have been the best goal ever scored by a defender. Aye, Sami 'Johan Cruyff' Hyypia.
Koogan Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I saw an interview of Sami after the match and he was surprisingly calm and subdued compared to the Sami in Istanbul. Wonder if he took the penalty miss a bit too hard? Or was it just another day at the office...
Guest Red Mist Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I don't know what he was thinking when he stood up to take part in the shootout. All credit for having the balls to do it but he was a strange choice for a penalty taker.

All credit for having the balls to do it but he was a strange choice for a penalty taker. Carra, Finnan, Cisse were all pretty fecked at the end. Kromkamp, Momo or Morientes I think would've taken the last one

All credit for having the balls to do it but he was a strange choice for a penalty taker. you've just answered it yourself though... Penos go to the players who are the most settled for it. Penosare not about finishing ability... they are about the mind and the fact that Hyypia missed is beside the point... he should have taken one.
WelshSpikeMikey Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 His penalty was completely rubbish - but it really doesn't matter. He was sensational - fair play! Although, if we'd lost, then I'd not be anywhere near as comfortable with him missing that pen.
Spike Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 why did he hit the peno with his right peg. He's left footed isn't he? aside from that Sami yer a fecking legend.
Guest Sabre Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 why did he hit the peno with his right peg. He's left footed isn't he? aside from that Sami yer a fecking legend. Na, mate He's definitely right footed and he always has been

Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 he seems to be a right-footed player who's happier on his left peg. But FFS. Today we made the hardest work of any game I think I've ever seen. Fair play to WHU, they made a brilliant game of it & if they'd carried the cup home, I'd have been one of the first to applaud them uh oh watch out macca attack!i';,m norew drunk trhan to9oyu aerd
