Sport in Washington DC

[Gravy]

I'm going to Washington DC later in the year and want to go and see either the ice hockey (Washington Capitols) or the football (Washington Redskins), both of whom are at home when I am there. I'm staying very close to the White House. Can anyone tell me how far from here the two stadiums are as I don't want to book tickets for one and then find out it's miles out of town and a bar steward to get there.
