How to organise tickets better

There is a thread about the ticket fiasco so I don't want to use this one for the same subject. What I want this thread to do is get ideas on how tickets for future finals could be handled. You never know some good may come of it in the future  .

Personally, the FA must know how many tickets are going to be given to each competing club well before we get to the final, even at the start of the competition. So why can't they do this;

1) Inform the four clubs in the semi-finals the exact number of tickets they will be receiving, what prices they will be and what part of the ground etc etc.

2) It would them be upto each club to draw up their own selling arrangements in readiness for the possibility of them reaching the final.

3) These selling arrangments to be made public so that every fan knows exactly what is going on.

4) The Monday after the semi-finals the tickets are hand delivered to the two clubs by courier.

5) The clubs can then start selling them the same week as every fan will have been informed weeks before.

This would leave a month to sell all the tickets and get over any hassles concerning tickets.

Anyone else ?

all stadia on the list for semi's and finals to use an electronic system - such as we have at anfield (for the kop anyway, not sure about the rest of it).

all PL stadia to be fitted with the same technology.

no paper tickets to be issued for PL games or semi/final matches to PL clubs, as the ticket can be simply added to the electronic card. all you need do is apply and none of this will ever happen again. it will also cut down on touting.

Happy enough with the selling arrangements to be honest.

Believe it rewarded loyalty and gave preferance to those who went out of their way to follow the reds at stupid kick off times in stupid places like Portsmouth. Seasies were given priority over fancards with the same number of credits which IMO is the way it should be done, but they wern't allowed priority over those who had been to more games than them, again far enough.

It's only the robbery events which have left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Good ideas.

Also on the day of the match Fancards should be shown when presenting the ticket at the ground

Wouldn't that be nice?

In a couple of years we'll be able to register a credit card with the club and declare our intentions at the start of a season as to weather we want a full season ticket (home and away) or just a home. In addition that season ticket/card will allow entry for all matches whatever the competition. If you choose not to go to a particular cup game then you will have the option to opt out by contacting the club (on line of course). In effect the information stored on the card will be minimal and it will be the information stored on the clubs computer system that will determine entry at the turnstile. paper tickets will still be used to identify allocated seats but they can be printed by yourself just like buying a euro rail ticket.

It sounds a great idea, but.......

Villa have been using ticketmaster to get rid of some tickets this season

There's a few clubs who use Ticketmaster. I think the Mancs also do. Thing is the booking fees with them are even more expensive than the one we charge.

West Ham used Ticketmaster for their FA Cup Final tickets - and Ticketmaster f***ed it right up, allowing anyone to buy tickets on the first day of sale whether they were Season Ticket Holders, Fancard Holders or neither. Hence many Season Ticket Holders were left without tickets when it came to their turn to buy.

Our Ticket Office are blameless in this fiasco - the Millennium Stadium are at fault, and the FA for not insisting on them re-issuing tickets.

Paul, the f*ck up was by the WHU ticket office. They sent ticketmeaster last years season ticket and membership database.

I don't understand why they can't just use 1 turnstile for the 1600 especially and have the club print off duplicate tickets. Therefore if anyone turns up with an FA printed ticket for any of those seats. PFO.

For me it is about time the ticket allocations for cup final's was looked at, I know its the same for almost any big sporting event, that the real supporters who follow week in week out struggle to get tickets while all the freeloaders and people in the know get their's for free.

I bet if you worked for the BBC, the houses of parliament or a brothel near the FA headquaters in soho you would most likley be offered plenty of tickets for a cup final and the touts always have plenty of tickets stamped cornish FA. The fans of the teams who make the final have had their allocations cut because the cup final attendance is not 100,000 anymore, have the FA cut the allocations to the county assosiations and corporate sources?

I do agree the people who run the county assosiations deserve to be rewarded for their efforts but why can't they be rewarded with tickets to international fixtures most of which have greater significance than they used to.

Anyway it's only the big clubs that can do anything about this because the FA don't listen to anyone but the big clubs have the clout to put the pressure on.

To be fair I reckon they have cut the FA allocation. My ticket was comming from an FA referee and for the first time in 10 years himself and 7 other refs he knows didn't get one.

That kind of sums up my frustrations with the supposed FA allocation. the refs do a great job in amateur footie often getting dogs abuse for little money and reward and deserve their tickets, but most of them sell their tickets on or pass them to friends so it is more the cash perk they are interested in than actually going to the game.

Real fans are denied more tickets, no offence to you superjay but you can't guarantee to me every ref who sells a ticket will pass it to a real fan.

this will be because the fa have allocated the same number of corporate tickets as they would have had wembley been available rather than what they have allocated for previous cardiff finals. they have also allocated tickets to certain wembley bond holders or whatever they're called to keep them sweet. tickets were cut from both competing clubs and some of the "football family" to provide the difference between the normal cardiff allocation for sponsors and the allocation provided this year.

Very very true but it just kills that our mate steve who isn't a amatur ref but a league 1 ref, has his allocation cut this year. I'm annoyed for him and not me may I point out.

If this was at Wembley and not some backwater......

.....we'd all be wearing safety helmets whilst watching workers cash in on their own unique brand of insider dealing.

Only just seen this.

I never knew that - but it adds up. The fella in work told me about it and he had a Fancard up till a couple of seasons ago or maybe last season - he just chanced his arm and somehow ended up with FOUR tickets. He did tell me some of his mates had done the same thing though - can't believe they all had lapsed Fancards ???
