Barnesy_10 Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I guess many on here are going to get down there Friday night and drinking early on Saturday, but I am getting the Triangle Travel train on Saturday morning and I think it gets to Cardiff around 12pm-ish... are plans being made for a meet up in a particular pub? Gonna be on my own and don't really wanna be My train back is at 6:45pish so not much time for boozing afterwards

Are we drinking in the same place btw ? As I don't know what I'm doing yet regarding boozers. Edited May 8, 2006 by Kev

Guest Kev Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 have read that too so will go straight to the station after the match There's a boozer that we have used for previous visits, I'll make sure it's being used again but I'm sure there will be a thread on it very shortly.

Guest Kev Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 cool, will keep an eye out.... is the train station nearby the ground? Dunno, I've never gone by train. I've always gone by car or coach to Cardiff.
Big E Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 The City Arms, right by the ground, will be the main congregation point as usual I expect. Footys, The Raffatollah, and flag/scarf trolley burnings are all on the schedule Gonna be ace!
jon_hall Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 We'll be drinking cans from the offie outside the City Arms, attempting not to get hit by one of about fifty footballs.
RP Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Think The City Arms is favourite. The station is right by the ground - a 2 minute walk.

jon_hall Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) There is an offie on St Mary Street about 5 mins from City Arms if i remember rightly. Edited May 8, 2006 by jon_hall
Guest kaip Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 There is an offie on St Mary Street about 5 mins from City Arms if i remember rightly. you are correct sir
New York Red Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) If any of you happen to be there the night before, I'd recommend avoiding the town center and going down the bay near the St. Davids Hotel. I promise you it will be absolutely superb there. Go to the Salt Bar or any of the other bars down there. It will be really cranking there. As for the day of the game, it will be absolutely mad at the City Arms. You can also try the Queens Vaults on Westgate Street, the Old Arcade on Church Street, any of the bars in the Old Brewery off St. Mary's Street and Caroline Street, and come to think of it, a bunch of them on St. Mary's Street are fine too (the Walkabout, the Goat Major). The Neville isn't a bad call either if you want to avoid the bedlam near the stadium, but that is about a 10 minute walk to the stadium and a hard core Cardiff City hangout. A quieter and more civil bet is any of the pubs on Cathedral Road, which is where some of you will be staying -- the Beverly or the Half Way. Try the takeaway curries on Caroline Street also. They are legendary. RP Reckon we do an Offie trip early doors then Hey Anny, thnat's my home town remember!!! When will you be getting there? Edited May 8, 2006 by New York Red
Paul B Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Think The City Arms is favourite. The station is right by the ground - a 2 minute walk. 2 minutes! Aye, if you are one of the roly polys. 32.8 seconds is nearer the actualite, wall to wall, like! There is an offie on St Mary Street about 5 mins from City Arms if i remember rightly. There's an even nearer one. In fact two. One in the grounds of the station (regular prices) and a big Spar on the road adjacent to the station.

Big E Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 If it's anything like previous finals, the City Arms will be busy Friday night too.
