How are people still surprised by these results and performances? You;d swear being negative and playing crap, cowardly and turgid football against much lesser sides wasn't a regular occurrence under the tactical genius that is Rafa Benitez. Wolves didn't even park the bus tonight. The way we played, the way we sat off, just gave them the confidence that they could push men forward and we simply wouldn't have any idea how to carve out ONE.SINGLE.CHANCE. RAFA OUT!!!!

Sami is simply class personified, so i wouldn't expect anything less from the man. Absolute pro. It's just sad he's now playing in Leverkusen rather than Liverpool. Don't think we made enough of an effort to keep him, and when he was here, wasn't used nearly enough. He was, even up until his last game for the club, our best centre back....quite comfortably too. So, a shame he was never afforded the same loyalty Carra has, despite being every bit the servant for the club.

Fairly clear to me these days that he's failed to establish himself earlier on because of Rafa's robotic formation and team movement. Like Aquilani, he's a give and go type of player, he wants players giving the ball and then quickly looking for space to receive a quick return pass. Which is why i fear for Aquilani. Will a Rafa side be able to offer the kind of movement a creative player like him needs to be able to thrive? You have to think there' a plan there to get the best from him because he hasn't been bought for his defensive ability.

He's a much better player than Carragher. To say we've been poor only when Skrtel plays is a nonsense really.

The problem Lucas and Masch have, is that generally whenever either gets on the ball, there's no one ahead of them actually moving to receive it, so generally the ball ends up going sideways and backwards most times. That's on of the things that i'm just fed up with in Benitez's team ethic. It' never about the creative side, it's all about standing in zones all over the pitch.

The fact vermin like him can just decide by themselves that they are going to be a pundit and get a job just like that says a lot about the average British football fan.

So why has he persisted in playing only one striker when clearly apart from Torres we don't have anyone suited to playing up top on their own. More than the team shape is wrong though. We make the pitch look absolutely massive. United, Arsenal, Chelsea, they all squeeze the space by playing the defence far closer to the attack than we do. You don't see sides play them and get the kind of space we allow them. Even an ultra attacking side like Barca doesn't allow the opposition the ball for any length of time? Why? High line, squeeze the space, pressure on whoever has the ball. Watch us though, as soon as the opposition get the ball, we retreat all the way back to the edge of our box. No other top side in the World does that.

Meh, we need someone able to play going both ways imo. I'm old fashioned like that.

What did United spend this Summer? -£50m, they are competing just fine. This net spend is tiresome beyond belief at this stage.

No. Not at all. It's about having an identity as a team, and understanding between players. A way of going about things. Look at us though, a complete mess, all over the f***ing pitch. Players not knowing their jobs, no understanding between midfield and defence, and then again between the midfield and attack. It clicks form time to time, and we can look great when that happens. But it's never consistent. Look at the way we start each and every season, we've looked like a different side form the one that finishes the previous one. Why? Why is there no consistency there? That's what i mean about a "style"? It's having a way of doing things, be it ugly or pretty or whatever. Why is this side so different to the one that finished last season so strongly? If we were doing things consistently, there wouldn't be such a huge discrepancy in the performance levels.
