  1. I'm surprised as well. Our view of them was made clear at the mass meeting before the Burnley game. So we will see how it progresses.
  2. I don't know. Would probably know more when the committee are all briefed at the next meeting what the status is with ShareLiverpool.
  3. I think any investor who is clever enough will see that we are protesting against them because of the lies and the debt they are putting on the club. If they are scared off, then its probably because they want to do something similar to what the current owners are doing and then we wouldn't want them here. Also, don't rule out the idea of fan ownership. We aren't happy with how things are progressing with ShareLiverpool, but its something SOS strongly wants to pursue.
  4. You are right, they are looking for the most money they can get. But what happens if our protests mean that it affects what that value they have, so instead of having a figure of £500million which no one will touch they reduce it to an amount that another buyer would be tempted at. Hicks got out of Corinthians before they were at their lowest when he felt he could no longer get what he wanted.
  5. Essentially the 'aims' can be shortened to just one aim. "To represent the best interests of our members and by extension the best interests of the supporters of Liverpool Football Club on both the local and international level." This essentially covers everything, but the rest of the aims need to be there to show where SOS can work and is working. I don't think we should be worrying too much about mission statements as well, compared to actually going out and doing it, which is part of the point with the protests tonight. Personally, and don't take this the wrong way, but I don't thing the binned part has any impact on things now, regardless of it happened or not. The original committee was a steering group that had to evolve and adapt quickly and I think they did a brilliant job, but they were always having to line it up for elections so the members had the say of who they wanted to be in charge. On points 1,2 and 3. Hicks would have wanted to make money out of Corinthians but didn't succeed and messed things up completely there so it doesn't mean because he wants to make money LFC will be fine. Brazillian Football may not be big globally as a league but Corinthians were no small team by Brazillian standards either so that doesn't necessarily make a difference. Would you want us to survive by the skin of our teeth because we are a big brand and how long will we be a big brand for if we drop out of the top 4.
  6. I don't think when leeds were playing in the Champions League Semi Final in 2001 that they would have thought that at all. Look at my post above. It can happen and Hicks has got previous for it. I really hope it doesn't happen, but we have to try and stop it and as molby says above we all must pull together even if just helping a little bit with every protest or action. Leeds fans would have thought O'Leary was the right man for the job and remember Hicks and Gillett once thought Klinsmann was the right man for the job. I do believe Rafa is the right man for the job as well, but what if Mascherano goes and no replacement is brought in and the next season another top player goes and no replacement is brought in because there is no Champions League Football to fund it. We don't claim to represent all fans. We only claim to represent our members. Is this not clear enough? http://www.spiritofshankly.com/aims.html Then check all the news stories and other sections of the site to show we are trying to acheive all that. Who have we binned? People were elected to the roles in February after they put their name forward. Internal strife, undesirables, what is all that referring to? Completely agree with that as well. We can't force people to join the union. But in the meantime we will represent what our members want and try and get what is best for our club. Part of the problem with any argument involving SOS on forums is usually the inaccuracies that come up about SOS, some of which I have tried to answer above. That just doesn't help anyone.
  7. The question with all of this is can this happen, and the answer is yes. We are not saying it will deinitely happen, hence the question mark, but there is a strong possibility it can. I don't want to wait for 5-10 years down the line to say I told you so. I hope we will be proved wrong, but I can't sit back and do nothing while our club is being run like this. A season without the Champions League is a strong possibility with Man City and even Spurs doing well now. That is up to £30 million lost then. Ask a Leeds Fan after the Semi Final of the Champions League in 2001, that in 8 years time they would be playing Liverpool as a League 1 club in the Carling Cup. They would have laughed at you. Leeds missed out on Champions League qualification and had to sell Ferdinand. Yes we might have more commercial revenue now, but our debt is bigger. After Ferdinand was sold O'Leary and Ridsdale fell out, O'Leary was sacked. Just think back to the Klinsmann saga, it could happen with us. Venables then became manager. More players were sold including Woodgate when Venables was promised he wouldn't be sold. They then got relegated as more and more players were sold. Everyone thought they would come back up but financial burdens stopped them with going into administration tipping them over the edge and sending them down to League One. Hicks wouldn't do all that now would he. Just google Corinthians. Promised them a new stadium, sound familiar, and this didn't happen. Changed things at the club which angered their fans. All this was as part of a company that owned Corinthians, Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, were there was infighting, again does this sound familiar. When the going got tough, Hicks retired from this company. This company sold Corinthians before it was too late for them, like with Ridsdale resigning as chairman. The new people in in both cases couldn't stop things from going downhill, particularly MSI at Corinthians who tried to stem the problem with throwing more money at the problem, but realised that didn't work. Ask a Corinthians fan after they won the World Club Championsip in 2000 that they would be relegated for their first time in their history in 2007. Hicks bought into Corinthians in 1999, as with buying us in 2007 he likes buying teams when they are close to a high. What happened in the middle of the season Corinthians got relegated (their season runs from April to December) they sold Mascherano and Tevez to West Ham despite Mascherano wanting to delay any transfer until January so he could help them stay up. Do Hicks and Gillett really care about what will happen to us or do they only care about what is in it for them? Will they invest their own money if we miss out on the Champions League to get us back in there the next season or will they try to cut costs. Do they love the club like we do that if things went a little bad they would stick it out and try to make things right or will they run for the hills and let someone else sort out the problem. There's a chance tonight to make a statement to other fans, the media, Hicks and Gillett and whoever else that we know what could happen to our club and we are not willing to sit back and let it happen. All these protests might not work, but I for one can not sit back debating if it will or will not happen. So for that reason I will make my voice heard and hope others do the same tonight because they do not care about our club, but we do.
  8. They were with the club for agreement on Friday, but obviously being the weekend it delayed things. We will be in touch with them today so hopefully should be out soon.
  9. No jacket unfortunately. Might suggest that one at the next meeting. Decided to get an account on here and other forums to try and help out in any union discussions. Like a vault getting into this place though with the 10 posts in the New Members forum and everything. Will definitely stop the spammers though.
  10. There will be an e-mail going out today saying what the status is and the minutes of the meeting will be going out hopefully before or over the weekend. I'm the Community Liaison and Regeneration Officer for the union.
  11. Kev Sampson isn't on the committee so the committee wouldn't have heard those questions through him. However, I think the points behind those questions were all raised yesterday.
