Yet there were fans questioning his commitment which will only happen more the longer this drags on. Every time he makes a mistake or has a bad game his commitment will be questioned...whether there is any truth to it or not is irrelevant. It would be a uncessary distraction when we have potential solutions to it.
I want players 100% committed to playing for Liverpool. I don't want to have to question if someone is giving their all. Already some on here were doing that based on his performance yesterday. That's only going to get worse the longer this drags on. If his intention is to move on there is no way that remains a secret until the end of the season.
If he is then the club is too soft. I actually like what Chelsea have done using the media to get what they want in the situation with Sterling, Chilwell and now Acheampong.
I mean we are all hypothesising as we don't know what happening. I would say though that if he is intending to leave I'm sure the club will know that by now and if that's the case I'd prefer it if he wasn't playing. I don't want to be in a situation later in the season where we are competing for trophies and wondering if Trent is giving his all. Is he going to risk a bad injury if needed? It's an unnecessary position to be.
If that's his line of thinking I'd rather he was open and transparent about it and left in January so the club receive a fee and can start planning for a future without him.
They do, however you'd think Trent winning one or two trophies with Liverpool would mean more to him than several with them. He literally said it last season with his 'this means more' interview.
Genuinely believed we'd be 5 pts above Arsenal. Naturally believed we'd have beaten Forest and Arsenal would lose to Spurs away with them missing Rice and Odegaard.
