  1. Broughton literally said that if there is news in the papers then it's a load of b****x.... Broughton also said that the owners have stepped aside and accept the outcome of the 'auction' that is to take place.... Floyd....everybody wants news on the takeover fella, but just because he hasn't come out and said that there are 'so many bids' and 'this is the next step', doesn't make him a lying fvcker... Yeah I agree that this time there are going to be hardly any leaks of information at all...other than from the horses mouth...can't imagine any Barcap employee wanting to lose their job via gross misconduct...can't imagine Barcap wanting to lose face by not running a tight ship...can't imagine Broughton wanting to feck up his reputation by not finding the best solution for us (from the offers on the table).... Unforunately I guess we can only wait...frustrating though isn't it? Maybe I'll make up a rumour to pass the time...I know, maybe I'll ignore the facts of the matter and say that one of the owners are in talks with a (insert b****x here) ...... Then again maybe it's true...who knows....well I would say maybe the board..a manager or two at Barcap....er....Chairman at RBS....anyone else? Certainly not Dave from down the road\pub\forum\Barcap Junior Manager\anywhere else.... I really want to hear something though, hurry up and do it, and get them pr!cks out of our club... YNWA
  2. To be honest we have Kuyt, Ngog, Babel, Jovanovic, Dalla Valle, Cole, Pacheco...hell, even Silva or Suso, at the extremes of reality, can do a shift there...and that's without even contemplating Nemeth who seems to be MIA somewhere.... Mind that list is not an order of preference, Kuyt and Jovanovic before a toss up of Ngog and Babel IMO... Sure I would love to see a quality striker brought in to be back-up to Torres, however with deficiencies in Defence I reckon a LB is priority.... Now, given that we have this surplus in attacking players, I believe the only way we could attract a formidable back-up to Torres is if the club is to be sold soon....money and being able to compete for trophies is what is going to keep a decent striker on the bench awaiting a Torres injury IMO... Still, it's early doors yet, and we're currently sitting on a profit from player sales...

    Lawrenson

Yet Rafa was at the memorial for Hillsborough, and led the way, to the rest of the team, by singing You'll Never Walk Alone..... So, yeah, I guess Rafa doesn't respect Hillsborough, or love Liverpool to the bottom of his heart.... Lawrenson is such a c*cksucking mummyjabber.... YNWA
  4. Well you're all correct.....7 starts since last, what, May?? Christ he's rubbish..... Yeah, that was his seventh start..... And his not an instasuccess.... He should be shot, shouldn't he? He hasn't really had anyone move incisively infront of him in any of his seven starts....yet has 2 assists.... Personally, I think he has to be given the benefit of the doubt....the way we are playing at the moment means we have to keep it very simple so that we can try and control the game thru possession, he will also benefit from having a long run of games, a preseason and some movement infront of him would help too... And I wouldn't be putting my ankle into any challenge either if I was him.... Maybe that's why he gets left out of all the real competative games, where there are real harsh tackles going in... Looks like Rafa is just gonna bed him in a bit, like when we used to sling our new signings into the reserves for a year, to just get 'used' to the Liverpool style... It's incredibly hard to fit into our team at the moment, when we have to play like we are, just like you can't throw kids onto the field when we're playing rubbish, it'd kill their confidence.... He must have been told to play like this, cos if Rafa had told him to get stuck in and tackle hard, play over exuberant passes or shoot on sight then we all know we wouldn't have seen him again, cos Rafa don't like it when his Instructions are ignored.... Patience Boys, Patience....we're not the team of the 70/80's, we can't have instasuccess, our team should be a lot better than it is, but this is what you get when you spend nought compared to others around you.... As always, remember, YNWA and support the team like the great fans we are, cos they need us now.... YNWA
  5. Merry Christmas.... YNWA
  6. My God boys....u guys can speculate the a*se end off a donkey..... The truth of the matter at hand is exactly what CP has said in the minutes....the words are all very easy to understand, he hasn't answered the questions in a politicians way has he? He doesn't come across as a RBS puppet to me...he said he took the job cos he's a fan and didn't like what he saw and wanted to do something about it...and let's be honest, he could of told SOS to feck off, but he didn't and, I guess, answered the questions honestly..... You have it on a plate now, you pretty much know exactly what is going on, so stop with the conspiracy theories and such....you have the truth as close as your ever going to get it.... PeeG, did u think that he was being dishonest? I, for one, am happy that something is being done about the situation and can look forward to the next few months with a tinge of nervousness and excitement.... YNWA
  7. You been peeking in my dreams again?? Only manager I would want at Liverpool, if Benitez goes, would be Mr Capello.... However, I don't want Benitez to leave, yeah he's having a bad season in terms of team performance, and my god is it frustrating and hard to watch us, however we have not had the luxury of having an owner buy us a team re Chelsea and Man City, or a team that has had stability over numerous years that only needs one or two players adding to it re Scum, or an owner that is willing to splash out big money on kids and have patience with the manager to let them come through re Arsenal, and we haven't had an owner willing to spend to keep us fighting for the top four re Villa, Spurs....and to a lesser extent Birmingham.... The Premiership is a very hard league and to be realistic we now have 7 teams that are going to fight for 4 spots in the league, throw in a couple of surprises that we get each season of teams overachieving, then that makes 9 teams all close-ish for 4th.....and when I look at it like that I can understand why we are where we are.... Yes Rafa has had funds to overhaul our squad since he's taken over at the helm, but he's never really had a a chance to just add the couple of extra players to add to a hugely strong squad, he's never had the full backing of the board in relation to what he asked for..re Barry/Keane....Alonso came good cos he had a royal kick up the a*se, he was a bit tosh the 2 seasons previous, and then he left.... Rafa's done a great job with revitalising our squad from the end of Houlliers reign, to the kickstart of our youth teams and to being able to keep us fighting for 4th with minimal depth in our squad.... So think about it before complaining... We don't have the squad or money of Chelsea We don't have the money of Man City..and soon to be squad... We don't have the squad class or stability of the Scum We don't have the squad class or stability of Arsenal We haven't been able to spend without selling like Spurs or Villa Yet we're still scrapping for 4th.....get behind your team and will em on, be grateful that we compete regularly at the top end of a hard league and let's see what the next few months bring... YNWA
  8. Alonso will turn in a great performance this season whether he goes or stays.....because: a) He's a professional, who will always try his best.... b) We've got him by the short and curlies.....it's a world cup year and I think he might well want to play..... Win/Win situation here, no wonder Rafa is playing a blinder..... YNWA
  9. Quite agree with you, if he doesn't want to be at Liverpool, then get rid for the best possible price....and yes, out of their current squad the prime candidate for a makeweight in the deal would be Snjeider.... I guess that it is pretty much accepted that there is a problem with Alonso and Mascherano....Rafa would have not been so indirect if there were no problems with the two.....and personally I think Rafa has got it bang on with both of them....they are under contract, so if he doesn't want to sell them, he doesn't have to..... More importantly though, and Rafa alluded to this in his recent interview, it is what they think of LFC.....I believe what he was trying to say, and we all know that his words can be misconstrued because of his english ability, was that it shouldn't be for the money, or the relationship with the manager, it should be about wanting to play for LFC, the passion for putting in maximum effort for the red shirt....if they don't have this passion, then they should move on.....we can all agree with this surely? Personally, I think maybe Mascherano's stance is more to do with negotiating a new contract, if the reports of his 30k a week current deal is to be believed....maybe Rafa will relent on this after a quick talk with him, or indeed tell him that a deal will be forthcoming when the current one is due to be renewed normally.....With Alonso, if he has a problem with Rafa, then he should get over it, and play for LFC, not Rafa...simple as....he knows what the fans think of him, and knowing this, if he wants to go to Real, then bye bye Xabi...... Be under no illusion, this is the ethos of Rafa's team now, you play for the club, for the supporters, for your own pride in doing so, not for the manager, or the money....and primarily, for me, that is what makes Rafa so great....he understands our club, he understands the principles laid down by Shankley, and in understanding this he is again laying down the foundations of what Shankley built this club on....and hopefully it will again bring the success we crave.... However, as always, we will find out in the next few days, as both players are due to return to training and will then be available for face to face meetings with the manager and the press......then we will know what is what...... Remember, actual quotes, not speculation, will give you the answers you seek..... YNWA
  10. Yeah blatently obvious isn't it....what a t***!! YNWA
  11. Personally, what Alonso said, it sounds like 'Feck off from always asking the same piggin question...I ain't saying no more you cockmunchers' and Masch hasn't said a word about anything.... Not gonna panic about a couple of stories in the rags....past believing them on anything Liverpool anyhow..... And some of you should seriously stop smoking the weed.....the paranoia in here could well be reaching critical levels.....it's in a paper fellas, it probably isn't true!! YNWA
  12. From the Daily Mail......Shock, Horror a decent article involving Liverpool!!! Now Cristiano Ronaldo has departed from the Barclays Premier League, Fernando Torres has the top table to himself. That is assuming he will not be heading to Spain. Or to Manchester United, if one report is to be believed. So what does Torres think about Ronaldo's exit... the problems facing United... his own future and Liverpool's chances? Sportsmail caught up with him in South Africa at the Confederations Cup with Spain. SPORTSMAIL: Fernando, there's a lot of speculation about the world's top players - and lots of money being spent - can you achieve your ambitions by staying at Liverpool? TORRES: Winning the European Championship with Spain gave me a taste of what winning at the top level was like and once you've had a taste of success it becomes an addiction. A lot of players committed themselves to Liverpool this summer with new contracts and players don't do that unless they think they can have their ambitions met. There is a lot of belief at the club and a lot of trust in the manager. I sincerely believe I will win the Premier League and the European Cup here. The winning tradition is very clear at Liverpool. I want to be involved in a little piece of their history. So that rules out a move to Real Madrid... or Manchester United? TORRES: It was hard for me to leave Atletico (Real Madrid's great rivals). It was where I grew up and I have lost count how many times I have said I would only have left them for Liverpool. It may be hard to believe as I grew up in Spain, but Liverpool are my boyhood club. I grew up supporting them. Madrid obviously are spending lots of money and I'm sure that Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking for a big name to replace Ronaldo, but I'm very excited about what the boss is doing here at Liverpool. We came close last season and, with the experience we now have, I believe we can be champions next season. Would you move clubs for more money? TORRES: We all know that football players at the highest level earn very good money. You might get two clubs who are going crazy because of investment and offering higher wages than anybody else, but that does not interest me. I'm very happy with my contract at Liverpool and wouldn't leave just to earn a little more somewhere else where I wouldn't be that happy. To want any more would be greedy and that is not me. As long as Liverpool want me, I will stay. So what about Ronaldo's departure? TORRES: He has been one of the best players in the world for the last three years and it will be a big loss for the league, but with the amount of investment in the Premier League I expect world-class players to arrive this summer as well. If he feels about Madrid the way that I did about Liverpool I can understand his move. The white shirt is very famous and for a lot of players their goal is to one day play in that Madrid shirt because they are seen by many as the biggest club in the world. The white shirt is a huge privilege for players, but for me the biggest privilege in Europe is the red shirt of Liverpool. Are Manchester United weaker without Ronaldo and are they there for the taking? TORRES: That is completely the wrong way of looking at it. We won't win the title because Manchester United have become weaker but because we have become better. To look at it like that is a loser's mentality and that is not the way of Liverpool Football Club. I'm not sure they will be any weaker anyway, they are getting a huge transfer fee and I'm sure Sir Alex Ferguson will bring in some quality players. Ronaldo will be hard to replace, but there are players out there - if you have the right budget - who can replace him. La Liga v the Premier League... has the power shifted now because of Ronaldo and Kaka joining Madrid and Barca winning the Champions League? TORRES: Kaka and Ronaldo are fantastic players, but the signing of two players does not mean the power has shifted. The amount of English teams consistently in the last four of the European Cup over the last few years has shown that it is the strongest. Barcelona play fantastic football and Madrid are buying some big players but, like I said, I expect world-class players to arrive in England this summer and it will take more than a couple of big signings to change the balance in power. But Madrid must now be serious contenders for the European Cup, right? TORRES: Again that is just a reaction to their spending. Their signing will improve them no doubt, but they are still a long way off Barcelona. They are behind the English clubs too - Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester have all been consistent in the European Cup for a long while. Real Madrid have improved their chances, but the new players have to be able to work together. Liverpool are close to signing Glen Johnson. TORRES: We have total trust in the boss and we will trust whoever he brings in, but yes, Glen Johnson has had an excellent season. He has established himself as the first-choice right back in what is now an England team playing very good football. He is used to playing top-four football, so there would be no issue about him making the step up. Michael Owen has been linked with Liverpool, too. TORRES: I know that he is a big part of the history of this football club and that the fans at Anfield loved him. I have no idea where he will be playing next season, but I am convinced that he still has a lot to offer. He has been unlucky with injuries in recent years and I know how frustrating that can be, but he has a natural instinct in front of goal and you don't lose that just because you have been injured. But what about the prospect of losing Javier Mascherano? TORRES: Javier loves it at Liverpool - that is all I can tell you. In the summer people like to make a lot of noises about world-class players - and Javier is a worldclass player. He has said himself that he is very happy at Anfield and there is no reason for him to want to leave.
  13. Rafa would walk at the merest suggestion.....it was, no doubt, in his contract that he knows the transfer funds ahead of time and has recently said about having the funds he wants without the need to sell..... He has what he wants, and he'll buy the players he sees fit....... Just gotta wait now, and I for one am glad that for once it ain't in the papers.....back to the Liverpool way for transfers methinks...... Don't believe anything you read until there are direct quotes from Rafa......he's not backwards in coming forwards with the truth, we all know this right? Barry didn't happen because Barry didn't want to come to Liverpool enough....We all know Rafa likes his players to want to come to us no matter what, no? And God knows why our finances are in the papers at the moment....it's just s**** stirring I guess..... Anyhow, stop speculating so much all of ya, things will happen soon, Rafa wants it all tied up before preseason.......he said that too..... YNWA
  14. Personally, I think we'll be wrapped up before pre season....Rafa has already stated this desire.....and he has stated that we don't need to sell to buy All this rubbish about us wanting Barry is pure press speculation, not a quote anywhere....... Just take Rafa at face value, what he says is what it is.....he is pretty much Shankly reincarnate, and now he has the power to be too...... Just gotta wait now......so smoke a fat one and chill people YNWA
  15. Didn't see any of the mankers looking too upset either, no tears, just a tad dejected.....didn't want it enough obviously......therefore they didn't get it, fecking souless bunch.... Up yours rednose... I'm soooo happy YNWA
