We needed pace and creativity during the summer and we ended up signing plodders like Milner, Benteke, Firminho. Great bit of business.

I know he didn't say anything bad about the players in the press conference but I hope he lit into Benteke and Firminho and told them that if they ever play like that again, they would be lucky to get a game for the reserves let alone the first team.

People were questioning when Arsenal signed Wellbeck and saying we got a bargain in Balotelli. I think Arsenal fans are the one's laughing now.

Not a bad idea. We should have experimented with this in the preseason. Play 3-5-2 with Gerrard as the sweeper a la Lothar Mathaus or Matthias Sammer. He does not have the legs to play a true defensive midfielder.
