It made sense for Abramovich and he has been making losses ever since he took over (and changing managers). We have a stronger brand name, stronger fan base and therefore much better foundations for any investor, with a decent wealth, to make a significant return in years to come. The £42 million loss is largely due to the level of debt we have and mismanagement by the current owners. If you reduce the level of debt and therefore any interest we pay and the unnecessary costs incurred by the current owners, our loss would reduce significantly. Best case scenario is a Middle East buyer comes in a week before the refinancing deadline and offers to purchase the club for say 300 million with 280 million of this being used to repay the debt. If we can pay 20 million for Keane why not Santa Cruz who is more of a team player and a better finisher. And I doubt he would spend much time on the bench. As I said before Roque Santa Cruz would be the perfect fill in for Torres. I doubt City will buy him at the end of the season as Hughes will thankfully be sacked.

I can think of one - Roque Santa Cruz. Slightly similar to Torres and would be delighted at joining us. Could pick him up for £15m. Those draws early in the season have really killed us. All credit to the team for keeping it alive until now. Not sure what next season holds. It will be much much tougher to win it next season as Chelsea will be stronger.
