It made sense for Abramovich and he has been making losses ever since he took over (and changing managers). We have a stronger brand name, stronger fan base and therefore much better foundations for any investor, with a decent wealth, to make a significant return in years to come. The £42 million loss is largely due to the level of debt we have and mismanagement by the current owners. If you reduce the level of debt and therefore any interest we pay and the unnecessary costs incurred by the current owners, our loss would reduce significantly. In addition, if any owner is looking to make a quick return on us then it is best they stay away regardless of how wealthy they are. We want an owner that is finacially stable and is likely to be in it for the long haul i.e. 15 years +.
