    He's been around years though and played for France at every level without ever really being top class. Same with Mandanda. I wouldn't call Lloris amazing either but he's won the World Cup. See also Barthez.

    Average is kind about the keepers. Not one of them is genuinely top class. None of them play Champions League football. Pickford shouldn't be number one for a team with World Cup aspirations.

    There's no way Elliott has found his best position for the long term yet. He might become a playmaker 10, he might become a shuttling Ronnie Whelan type. He's got ages. He'll probably go through several positions and be good in all of them like most wonderkids seem to.
