I was thinking the same thing - agreed!
-
My job here is done ... I have identified most of the bitching and moaning drama queens ... Too many of you around this place for my taste ... I've thought that it would be a nice idea to post around here, but it seems that you little parish is worse than TIA ...
-
Now, that is completely different matter ... I love discussing possible transfer targets, and their eventual contribution to our team ... But basically, that is still Football Manager style debate, and not a substantial transfer talk ... As I have stated, any serious transfer speculation debate at LFC was made redundant, the very same moment when The Liverpool Way was reinstated ...
-
To be honest, I am cautious about the bitching and moaning drama queens ... I've got beaten once, in a very unpleasant place ...
-
Can you find the earliest ''Carroll to Liverpool FC'' report from January ? You'd be surprised to see the date ... Suarez became public knowledge just because Ajax were negotiating through the Dutch media ... As for Charlie Adam, I am still not convinced that we have made any official bid, at all ...
-
Nope, that is transfer speculation, at the time when there were media sources with actual knowledge about the club's targets and dealings (mentioned above) ... At the moment, those sources are non-existent ...
-
Under The (reinstated) Liverpool Way, it is pretty much useless to discuss transfer targets reported in the media, as they are probably 99% false ... Therefore, this thread in nothing more than another version of Football Manager 2011, with little or no connection to the reality ...
-
Well, I'll try to explain it to you, as you were a 6-year old ... Since the departure of Cecil and Roy, and the arrival of Comolli and Kenny, no-one in the media has a f***ing clue about our transfer plans ... Even the usually most informed journos like Tony Barrett, Andy Hunter or Rory Smith are mostly making guesses about our transfer targets ... Therefore, anything you read in the British media about our alleged transfer targets is probably made-up nonsense or (in the best case), an educated guess ...
-
Yup, it is such a shame it hasn't turned into another version of Football Manager 2011 ...
-
Do you seriously believe that Chelsea and City will have weaker squads next season ? Abramovich has already invested 70+ million in January, and he will continue to invest in the summer ... As for City, there is no need to even talk about their spending in the summer, apart from the fact that they would probably be in position to offer CL football to their targets this time, in addition to the handsome financial package ... And if you really think that we are superior to the Mancs and Arsenal in terms of squad depth, then we should really drop this discussion ...
-
This usually happens when people don't actually read other people's posts, yet reply to them ... I am not dismissing our title chances next season based on the 12 games under Kenny ... You are the one building up our title chances based on a such small sample ... I am dismissing our chances for a Premier League title next season based on everything that has happened with our team since the summer of 2008 ... A proper title challenging squad was dismantled for different reasons, losing players like Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Sami Hyypia, Alvaro Arbeloa, Peter Crouch, John Arne Riise and Yossi Benayoun in the process ... Only a few of these players were adequately replaced so far ...
-
Personally, I think that we should aim to win every match, and also take every match seriously ... Even under Kenny, we have a severe problem of motivating the players for the ''small'' matches, as opposed to the matches against the top-of-the-table teams ... This is not a small issue, and it will take a lot of time and effort to be resolved ... As much as I hate the Mancs, their strongest weapon in the past 2 decades is their strong winning mentality, no matter if they play LFC or Wigan ... This is why I am hoping that we will be signing some true winners in the coming transfer windows, as opposed to the flashy crowd favorites ...
-
Sorry, but that is a very small sample ... And you can't simply leave out the matches against Blackpool and Everton, just because it suits your agenda, since we have repeated the same performances against West Ham and WBA away, as well as against Wigan at home ...
-
The Premier League title is never won against the top half of the table teams ... It is won against the bottom half of the table teams ... Against top half: Against bottom half: Those tables are of course from the 2008/09 season, our best league season in the past decade ... This season our record is even worse: 1.60 points per game against the top half teams, and only 1.39 points per game against the bottom half teams ... It will take a lot of time for this LFC team to develop a killer mentality, even if we do get right all of our signings in the coming transfer windows ...
-
And that is where the real problem is ... It seems that most of our fans are unaware of the damage that has been done to our team by Gillett, Hicks and Purslow ... By the way, I am still waiting for someone to answer this question:
-
Well, I don't think that anyone has mentioned a 5-year plan ... However, expecting that we will challenge for the title next season, after what we have been through in the past 2 seasons, is simply not realistic ... Our squad is much weaker than it was 2-3 years ago, and we will need some serious investment in order to even approach that level ... We would need to do well in the next 3 transfer windows (Summer-January-Summer), promote some of our most talented young players to the first team's squad, and then we could discuss a possible title challenge for the 2012/13 season ... Having Kenny is charge gives a reason for optimism, but putting unrealistic expectations on him and the players would only end in tears come next May ...
-
To be honest, I am not trying to insult anyone ...
-
Sorry, but that is another internet myth ... We have definitely improved under Kenny, but we still have 1.85 points per game with him in charge ... In current situation, if we had that type of form for the entire season, we would have been at 61 points, 8 points behind the Mancs, with them having 1 game in hand ...
-
Don't worry, dear, I can handle them ... By the way, you should definitely consider wearing some make-up ...
-
It has nothing to do with ''gooner'' mentality ... I will ask you a simple question: At what point in the past 10 years, we've had the strongest squad ? Personally, I think it was January 2008 ... Torres/Crouch Kewell/Babel - Gerrard/Banayoun - Kuyt/Pennant Alonso/Lucas - Mascherano/Sissoko Riise/Aurelio - Agger/Hyypia - Carragher/Skrtel - Arbeloa/Finnann Reina/Carson Honestly, do you think that we are anywhere near that level ?
-
As I have said, those a very unrealistic expectations for next season ... City have spent over 300 million in the past 3 seasons, and they are struggling to get into the top 4 ... And before anyone mentions Chelsea, lets not forget that their big spending under Abramovich started a year before Maureen arrived there ... The total investment into their first title winning squad was £220 million (net) over 2 seasons (2003/04 and 2004/05) ... We are not going to spend that kind of money ... You have just suggested a net spending of over £100 million ... Over 2 seasons, it might be possible, but over a single summer, it would be impossible ...
-
In my humble opinion, this would be raising the bar too high ... We need to get into the CL places first, before even thinking about a title challenge ... Despite some very decent results under Kenny, we still have the 6th best squad in the league ... A title challenging team needs to grow together, for at least 2-3 seasons ... The unrealistic expectations for next season could easily prove to be unhealthy for our fan base and the atmosphere around the team ...
-
There is no quick way to where we want to be ... We are not City or Chelsea ... Our title challenging squad would need to be built, probably over 2-3 seasons ...
-
I am familiar with this theory, but it is simply not true ... If you are trying to praise some youngster from our system, try Conor Coady ... He is the midfielder that could reach Lucas' level ... Spearing is a decent player, but nowhere near the Lucas' level ...
-
I am familiar with the expression, but I have tried to be gentle on the kid ...
