  1. Athmosphere sounds great on the official broadcast
  2. I couldn't remember whether he joined before McManaman left or after off the top of my head - I can now, I know it was after. Anyway, since when do players have to "earn" their shirt number? I give you Diouf @ 9...
  3. I'd guess Smicer had three or did he start with 7? There was actually a time when numbers changed from game to game - up to the 60s (at least, possibly even later) you wore the number of the position you played. Can't remember off the top of my head, but I think for all the mystique about Dalglish & the 7 shirt, he didn't actually always wear it.
  4. One large one and counting...
  5. Don't bother with the James Joyce - I haven't been for a long time, but last time I went they didn't even have a telly, never mind Sky. The Twist should be fine - they will probably have both games, but their front and back bars are pretty separate and they'll probably have Liverpool on in one and Arsenal in the other. Ask at the bar which one is being shown where. Alternatively, and especially if you have a train to catch after the match, go to the Nelson near the main station. Oh and by the way: it's called the Noble Dubliner
  6. It's now on their website, pretty much in the same place as the original allegations, so pat yourself on the back: looks like your mail worked.
  7. Weren't we top of this table in Houllier's last year?

    Priceless!

Didn't geddit didja. That's a Carling Cup - ring any bells?
  9. Zenden is also a good favoritism backup for Rafa in case Morientes should start scoring...
  10. You have got a short memory mate: I was talking about the home derby LAST YEAR. I just watched the highlights of that game again and Morientes' first time volley is absolutely top drawer, better than anything I've ever seen Cissé do in a red shirt (never saw him when he was at Auxerre). Thus the point remains: one's a class player in a scoring drought who at least tries to work through it, the other is - well I'll leave it to others to slag Cissé.
  11. Got a bit of a short memory, haven't you? I meant the volley from 20 yards or whatever that Martyn could only push onto the bar, and Garcia nodded it in. Cissé's derby goal is actually a good illustration of the kind of player he is: extremely fast with a hard shot but frankly not much else. He would've suited us very well in about 2002/2003, but we have a new manager now and we changed the way we play. Anyway, my main point remains: Morientes is a class player in a scoring drought who at least makes up for this through hard work. If Cissé doesn't score he contributes sweet FA else, and it's not like he's a deadly finisher like Owen is/was.
  12. I refer the honourable Gentleman to last years home derby and the one Garcia ended up nodding in. My point being that Nando has done it and there's every chance he will be doing it again, whereas I cannot see the weaknesses in Cissés game going away.
  13. Why is there never a time machine around when you need one? I wonder what kind of response this thread would've got after the ManU away game in the league... FWIW I agree with Knox Harrington: I'd pick Morientes ahead of Cissé every time as well. He may not score as much but his overall contribution to the way we play is so much better. I remember one occasion where he slide tackled an opposition defender in their box - nothing came of it unfortunately, but you just can't see Cissé even dreaming of doing that.

  15. Just had a quick look and this year we lost exactly two games we scored in (Chelsea home and Crystal Palace), so the stat is not that surprising really... edit: in case anyone is interested: last year it was three (United Away, Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final and Arsenal away).
  16. Arsenal FK just outside the area on the right, header inches wide from Touré
  17. Fowler header from Riise cross (I think), just wide
  18. 5 minutes gone, 2nd corner to us
  19. He's in the Kop goal first half, so I guess not...
  20. Dudek getting a fantastic reception apparently...
  21. 'Zackerly - that way, if anyone ever gets Rafa a lamp when he wanted a table. he can do the conversion himself...
  22. Hard to say whether is genuine or not. There may be more clues in the headers of the mail, but I'd say that as long as the only thing you have to do is give them a contact phone number, you've nothing to lose...

  24. Great ball into the box from Alonso - Crouch couldn't take the shot.
  25. Swap Morientes and Cissé and you're spot on IMO.
