and in my opinion neither did fowler, and what GH and thommo done to our stikers i can never forgive them for, but thats another subject. So ok if a team plays to emile's strenghts then he will do well, im sorry but i dont see gerrard or torres having to play to heskey's strenghts when they are more then a cut above. in games like last weekend against stoke, they put 11 men behind the ball. lower league teams not only lack in quailty but also ability - in this case my point would be defensive ability..how do you counter a team like that? counter them with pace because they wont be coming out to you if your just passing the ball around. Heskey has pace but he lacks in ability compared to henry who has both. we didnt have enough pace in the team last saturday, gerrard was looking half fit, kuyt isnt good enough and reira was knackered when he came off..babel should have played and henry on the other side would have been quaility enough to beat stoke how everyone predicted

yes he does get stuck in and work hard..but kuyt works hard too but he doesnt score the goals or create many either. of course he's going to say he'd come back in a heartbeat..who wouldnt when your constantly playing for bottom half of the table teams. Capello doesnt have many options for strikers that could cut it for england, even rooney struggles, im not saying heskey isint a good player but i just dont think he's good enough for us anymore..its sort of like an anelka situation (2 different mentalities though) they both have nothing to lose and no weight on their shoulders when playing for crap teams, but there stikers and strikers are supposed to score goals..at a bigger club with more pressure i dont think it'd be good enough. fowler was creative enough on his own when he needed to be, plus the teams owen and fowler played in alongside heskey there were several others who could create goals for them..gary mac, berger, smicer, gerrard, murphy...

no i dont think he needs a partner as a front 2 either. but henry is able to play upfront (if torres needing a rest), wide and/or behind..and he can create somthing out of nothing when you least expect it.

i know what your saying, but i dont think he offers enough creative ability for us, imo we've got enough players who can 'do the job' henry offers the creative ability aswell as being able to provide and more importantly score... If we need somone to fall over everytime, i'm sure we can get one of the spanish lads to do that for us cant we?

Watching the Barca game last night and noticed that once again that T.Henry was left on the bench. Commentators were saying that he and Guardiola aren’t seeing eye to eye. They decided to bring on messi, Eider.G, and Bojan ahead of him for the last 15-20mins to win the cup tie. Anyone else think he'd be a good loan acquisition?

id be tempted to drop skrtel for this game, only because he keeps getting yellow cards every game and i could see him getting 3 yellows and a red....but then again he would probably scare the crap out of yak and haha

so jim beglin with the other iTV crew, steve ryder and andy townsend were in the same restaurant as me last week at the marseille game. andy townsend decides to get up and leave shorty after he finished his meal, my mate tells me he done the same thing last year because he cant take the drink - the rest of the crew sat there for a long while after we left getting smashed. Pity i didnt know jim beglin was being an ass on the night with his commentry..could have given him a few choice words...

Agreed, i think arbeloa has been in tremendous form recently, doing the right things in defence - seems to have built an understanding with the other 3 to hold the line, and when joining the attacks putting in some great balls..lets hope it continues. Its a shame that degan has got injured again though, we dont need arbeloa getting complacent, but maybe it'll give steven darby a chance to play with the 1st team from time to time? thought he was excellent in pre season.

Thats total rubbish, Alonso has been so unbelivably s*** at corners and freekicks this season i don't understand what has happened to him! i used to prefer him taking set pieces to gerrard so we could get gerrard attacking the ball...but i've even seen gerrard taking alonso off corners after a couple of crap deliveries in the past few games this season. Just didn't think gerrard wanted to stretch his groin to much on saturday against stoke you could see the grimace in his face as he sent one of the others to take it. We had gerrard, alsono, riera, kuyt, arbeloa, dossena and yossi all taking corners at gerrards signal. Really hope aurelio gets himself fit quickly because he has a great delivery and at least he can mix it up with stevie.

because a poor first touch or touch in general shows ignorance and a player has overlooked this aspect of his game (i am talking from experience, and have been given advice in the past from coaches before you have a go). a poor touch also costs chances, time, and will allow you to get caught in possesion - you'd rip the crap out of a player if this happened to be a costly. opposition players/coaches will also clock on to the fact you touch is poor and you'll be pressed quicker. etc etc etc the list goes on. admitedly the lads had a good game today, it was a big win and i like everyone else is over the moon! but that doesnt mean to say that every aspect of the game was perfect, Rafa is a perfectionist and he will be looking over where improvements can be made, but thats one thing i noticed, not just today either. just cos we beat the mancs doesnt mean the seasons over, theres still a long way to go yet. will just be funny if/when we have a bad partch and everyone starts to slate rafa and the players. but for now enjoy!

i get really annoyed watching yossi, he has some quailty but i just dont think he's good enough. He's weak, poor decision making and constantly trying to go past 1 to many players. Out of the 4 (yossi, kuyt, riera and babel) he would be my 4th choice. Its a shame for arbeloa because i think he's not played to bad this season, considering some of the crap he's had supporting in front of him. slightly of the yossi and arbeloa topic, i would say some of our players really need to work on their first touch, babel and kuyt for a start. i find it really hard to work out how their touch can be so bad at times!

yeah i heard the song, but wasnt aware that anyone was kicking off, i didnt think anyone had a problem with it..maybe because the guys sitting behind me were quite loud and starting some of the chanting throughout the game.

I was just wondering how anyone going to the Marseille game is getting there and through which routes? I'm traveling alone and trying to plan at the moment, would be good if there are other reds around?
