  1. Been pleased enough with the moves in attack, but more than a little underwhelmed at the prospect of Mingolet replacing Reina. Probably at a net loss as well. Can't see the point unless Reina a) wants to leave and b) actually has somewhere to go to i.e. Barca.

  3. Swing it, shake it, move it, make it, do you think you're Ian Ayre?
  4. Could you blame him?

  7. I've never really given a s*** about the kits before, but these two are so f***ing ghastly that it's hard not to be annoyed by them.
  8. They'll end up giving it to him if it means he goes there. He knows that.
  9. If Ayre goes, we'll have to see who is the heir to Ayre.
  10. Look at the way Ferguson indulged Cantona. It always happens like this at football clubs. We backed Suarez because he's our best player, world class and worth a fortune. The alternative was hang him out to dry. We were never going to do that with someone worth as much to us - either on the pitch or when he's sold.
  11. Mignolet would go alongside the likes of Carroll, Adam, Downing and Allen being signed on the back of one good season in the league. You'd think we'd have learnt by now.
  12. I'd rather have won a trophy this year than finished with nine points more in the league. It depends how you view the domestic competitions and whether they're worthwhile trying to win. We tried to win them last year, we reached two finals and won one of them. I suspect I'm not alone in finding the finals a lot more enjoyable to watch in the last three months of the season than watching us play out a series of largely pointless league matches to cement seventh.
  13. If Allen was able to play at the level of Carrick or Barry then there wouldn't be a problem, but he hasn't and I don't think he will.
  14. Higuain's an excellent player, but we're not in Europe at all so it would be quite difficult if a team like Juve also came in for him.
  15. Re: Allen. I think he's an alright player who had a very poor spell in the second half of the season. Longer-term I don't see him as being anything more than "alright", largely because he can't really tackle, he's physically weak and he doesn't look capable of producing passes which will split defences. So while he's alright, and he'll "keep the game ticking over", we could and should have got someone more effective for £15M and I don't see him improving a great deal in the longer-term. Relative to what we need to be a top four team again, he wasn't the right player to buy and this remains the case.
  16. You'd hope, but fees have increased massively in recent years. It's probably down to all the TV money about now.
  17. The bubble will have to burst soon, these prices are f***ing ridiculous.
  18. Humourless. Actively harmful to the team from about January onwards. It's alright pleading injury and "bedding in" and the like, but he cost £15M and he couldn't pass the ball properly. And Sion, you don't see me having a go at Coutinho who is f***ing brilliant, so that kicks your hypothesis into the long grass.
  19. Get one with Allen on the back and you're laughing.
  20. I'd absolutely love Alonso back here, but I can't see it being a goer.
  21. Suarez is leaving for footballing reasons, and the attempt to pass it off as media-driven is a bit clumsy. He'll have been told by someone (his agent, no doubt) to do it, but it's still a bit dense. Ultimately I don't really care what he says. It's up to the club to a) tell Suarez to hand in a transfer request and b) tell Madrid to pay £53M (or whatever) and that's that. If they refuse to pay, he doesn't move. If he complains, you tell him that Real know what we want for him and if they're not prepared it then he should take it up with them. Can't really blame for leaving though, he's 26 and has barely played in the Champions League. He's a brilliant, world class player and expecting him to stay with a team who haven't finished higher than sixth in five years is a bit much.
  22. We reached two less finals and won one less cup, Three or four competitions a season, have to consider performance across all of them to me. We were s**** in the cups all year and our season was over by February. It was rubbish.
  23. £40M would surely be the point at which his contract requires we inform him and his agent. Anything below we can just turn it down. I don't know. Unless it's a point at which we have to sell then it's not a clause that we should give even the slightest of f***s about.
  24. Pearce is dire. Potentially tens of millions to spend this summer (gross). I can't be dealing with another season of treading water, we need to spend it well, hit the ground running and do something for a change. Bit annoyed Suarez is likely to go, although it was always on the cards when we finished where we did. Problem is we played last season as if everyone was going to stay for five years and Rodgers was going to get said five years regardless.
  25. I said "more likely", not "definitely absolutely will". The biggest reason for me is lack of European football again. It's a piss-poor return.
