At about 63 minutes into the match yesterday - usually about the time when Andy Gray would giggle if Benitez ever made a substitution ('Heh heh heh, I knew it, he loves this time!') - Gray started saying it was the usual time when ALL managers think about subs! When Roy didn't touch the This Is Anfield sign, Richard Keys chuckled. If Houllier or Benitez had forgotten we would have had a stern 'foreign manager fails to understand English traditions' inquest. And, so eager was Andy Gray to sneer about zonal marking, he seemed to be ignorant of the fact that Hodgson, far from being critical of it, has been a keen student of the system since the 1970s and even adapted his own version ('zonal trap marking') when he was at Fulham.
