Yeah just started: Updates here - Link

I disagree, I have watched every game Stelring has played for us at reserve, under 18s and in the nextgen. I am not basing this on youtube highlights or anything. I watch a lot of LFC youth. People have been raving about him for ages and rightly so, as he is a brilliant prospect. The club have been patient with him, as he is still young, as I said age is holding him back - not ability. When he gets regular chances, I think he'll impress so much,he'll be hard to drop. Like Owen and Gerrard they were so good, they forced us to play them. I think the same will happen with Sterling.
-
Why is it stupid? I rate Sterling higher than Ramirez, it is an opinion. Yes Sterling has the hardest step to do, make an impact in the first team, but I am backing him to do so and I think this time next year (maybe earlier) people on here will be raving about him.
-
I like the idea of trying Maxi central. He is good on the ball, gets in the box and could help us get more goals from midfield. If Rodgers likes his wide players to be quick and direct, like he had at Swansea with Dyer, Sinclair and Routledge then it might be Maxi's best chance of getting in the team.
-
He's direct, no doubt, but that is his strength he takes opposition full backs on and makes things happen. I think he'll look even better alongside better player as in the reserves he often gets double marked as he was the main threat. But a Premiership side wouldn't do that as we have other players who will get the attention like Suarez or Gerrard. I know as fans we don't like to build our youngsters up and put too much pressure on them, but what I like about Sterling is he seem fearless. When he came off the bench vs Wigan for those 10 minutes he was direct and did exactly what he had been doing in the reserves. Our side has been crying out for that type of wide player since Mcmanaman.
-
Who is comparing him to Messi? No one. Just saying he has a great future and when he gets a chance, he'll prove that.
-
I know we haven't had much come through since. But Sterling is capable of making an Owen esq impact when he gets a chance in the team. He is that good. Anyway let's wait and see, I think he is the real deal.
-
You watch next season, he is the best player we have come through since Gerrard.
-
What's with the snide sarcy comments?

I am very much of a believer that most players need to have the right circumstances around them to perform. Some players suit certain tactics, playing in a particular role, in a certain league etc. Although I am been quite negative about Ramirez, he does play in a team at Bologna which look to hurt teams on the counter attack. Which might suggest why he has lost possession too easily, as he is trying to force the pass or dribble when he gets the ball all the time. He might look a totally different player in a more possession based system.
-
Sorry didn't mean to confuse. Watched a fair few of his last season. He played central mainly, in a free role - but he can play wide like you say. I disagree with Sterling, he isn't just about pace, he will look to play one / two's and won't only look to take a full back on. The one area Sterling needs to improve is his finishing. I think he'll be right with Hulk, should he join Chelsea. He has the right attributes to succeed in the Premiership - quick, strong, direct and skillful.
-
I am coming across like I don't rate him at all. I will clarify the guy has talent, but he is young and still raw IMO. Also I think he'll need time to adapt to the pace of the game over here, as he wants too much time on the ball in Italy, he'll get less time in the Premiership. I just think if we are spending £16 million, we want someone who can improve us next season. I don't think Gaston will be any better than Bellamy or Sterling. He'll have more goal threat than Downing and won't bottle taking on his man. So if it is a straight swap with Ramirez coming and Downing leaving, I'd take that.
-
He said Lucas would succeed here, although he was talking about him as the box to box player he used to be and not the defensive midfielder he has become now.
-
You hope Rodgers is buying a player based on scout repots and keeping Suarez happy, rather than actually knowing a lot about the player and rating him himself? I hope if we get him it is because Rodgers rates him highly and thinks he will improve us and fit into his way of playing. As I said Ramirez is more experienced, but for me Sterling is the better player or the better prospect. The only thing holding Stelring back is age and opportunities, not ability.
-
Is he a regular? He has had 9 caps in the last 2 years. I have never seen him play for Uruguay to be fair, as I said he might look better alongside betetr players. But Vickery has said he has always struggled when used for the National team.
-
Tim Vickery, bbc sports South American expert on Ramirez - Link Talks about him from 5:28.
-
He looks very good in a youtube clip - as he can finish, which is positive and the odd dribble can pay off, although he mostly get tackled easily. What worries me is when you watch him in games, he loses possession far too easily both when dribbling and making passes. Rodgers wants the team to keep the ball and Gaston might struggle to do that. Tim Vickery the BBC South American expert things he might struggle with the pace of the English game and I agree with him from what I have seen, but over time he will hopefully get to grips with that. The guy has talent, he knows how to finish and can dribble. In the long term it might look a very good piece of buisness. But in the short term, I think he will struggle. It seems Dalglish and our club have been tracking this guy for a wee while. As Jenkins says, the scouting reports look good for him. I hope Rodgers isn't going off the scout reports and is buying a Uruguian to help keep Suarez happy, but seriously rates him as well. Only comparible in the sense they are young players. Ramierez is older though and has more experience at the higher level. I think Sterling is already the better player though IMO. Sterling could really improve our first XI, I'm not sure Ramierez will. But alongside better players, Ramirez could thrive, not saying he will be a flop - I just don't think we should expect too much from him instantly if he does sign and at £16 million the price seem high.
-
He might play, I don't think he'd improve us.
-
I have big doubts about Ramirez, don't think he is worth £16 million and I don't think he improves our side. We don't need young prospects, we have plenty of them with Sterling, Suso, Pacheco etc. We need a player who can come and compliment Suarez, Gerrard etc. I don't think Ramirez will get in our best XI.
-
I'd add Pacheco, Suso, Robinson and Teixeira to that list as well. The two players I disagree with are Downing and Wilson. Wilson might be a ball playing centre back, which will suit Rodgers, but there is no point in being a ball playing centre back, unless you are solid defensively and I don't think he is, personally. He always looks very vulnerable when I have watched him. Think Wisdom is a better prospect. Also Downing might be able to keep the ball, can work hard and has the movement required... the basics which Rodgers wants. However again, the wide players are going to have to get goals or / and assists... Downing I'm not convinced can do that or get enough goals or assists that we require.
-
Yeah, I like Henderson and he does give us energy in the centre of midfield. Think he should suit the way Rodgers wants to play and the same for Shelvey. Would have no problem with either of them starting for us. I agree we need cover for Lucas, as he won't be able to play 60+ games even if he was 100%. He might struggle coming back from injury and it would make sense to getsome really good cover for him. My biggest concern is where are the goals going to come from? Our defense is solid, it was last season generally even without Lucas for large parts, with the third best record in the league. I guess I am just worried about Carroll - can he be clinical enough for us. Last season would suggest he can't, even in the last few games when his form looked much better he still wasn't clinical. I think we need a striker more than anything this summer, as relying on Carroll to get the goals is a big risk IMO, based on what we have seen since he has joined us. If you don't have a goalscorer(s), you won't win many games, as we saw last season. The goodnews is Arsenal might lose RVP who got 30 league goals for them last season, that will help our chances of getting top four, as that is a lot of goals for the team to replace.
-
I don't agree. I think he is ready, but his age is holding him back, not his ability. I can see him having an Owen-esq impact this season, he is that good!
-
I think Sterling might force his way into our best XI this season. At present I'd say: Reina Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Lucas Gerrard----------Aquilani Suarez Carroll Bellamy But hopefully we can bring in one or two players that can strengthen that.

Suso vs Greece: Link Spain under 19s play Portugual at 6pm today, which is live on Eurosport 2.

He was a regular at Sunderland and their most promising asset. He could feasibly be on 20k IMO. Barrett has good contacts at the club, if he says something then it is often right. Surely Comolli was involved?
