  1. I agree with this. Although I'd add, Agger and Carragher were both equally as bad against the physical strikers last season, it was one thing we couldn't cope with no matter which centre backs played. That's why Toure has been brilliant so far against Stoke and Villa. Also why Sakho might be a great buy.
  2. Total I think.
  3. Out for 5-6 weeks according to The Times.
  4. Very true!
  5. I think Henderson has shown that. He was very good when used last season and has been this season, I actually liked him in the first season. Allen is a decent player, no more. I wish we didn't have him and had a proper DM in the squad instead of him. I'd never pick Allen ahead of Henderson. and when I said far more, I meant Henderson is a much better player than Allen, not that Henderson is the next coming of Gerrard.
  6. I think it is. I have never rated Allen higher than Henderson - look back at my old posts.
  7. Why? I judge players on what they do on the pitch, not their 'reputation'. You name me some mistakes from Enrique that have cost us goals since Rodgers has joined the club? I bet you'll struggle. I won't struggle naming Agger mistakes.
  8. Wasn't even true then. Henderson can do everything Allen does and far more.
  9. Stop making up crap, you don't know that. Yes very strange reasoning and that's another one!
  10. I wouldn't drop either, I'd have Sakho on the bench and he'll have to wait to force himself into the team. But if it was a choice between Agger and Enrique, I'd take Enrique everyday. As I said I can't remember the last time he was at fault for a goal for us. I can remember numerous examples for Agger in the last year. I presume by that you mean Agger is our best defender and Ilori our worst? Sakho and Ilori both haven't kicked a ball for us yet. Agger and Johnson have made significantly more mistakes than Enrique. Toure has been immense since he joined. Very strange list and strange reasoning.
  11. Well play Sakho and Enrique then who is a left back. Enrique doesn't deserve to be dropped. Agger has cost us far more goals and if you have to make way for Sakho, then Agger goes, not Enrique.
  12. Why drop Enrique? Can't remember the last time he was at fault for a goal we conceded. Dreadful idea!
  13. Don't think you can read too much into what we did in pre season, Downing played a lot when he was going. Henderson is a much better player than Allen and I'd hope Rodgers would have picked him ahead of him anyway.
  14. Yeah, I'd have thought when Suarez is fit he just takes Aspas' place in the team.
  15. and Houiller could spot a top class centre back - Hyypia and Henchoz being two.
  16. I'd do the same, just would have Toure right back and Skrtel centre back. Think both Toure and Skrtel deserve to start on form and with Johnson injured we can do that by simply having Toure at right back, a position he has played before.
  17. I want to clarify, I'm not saying Ilori will turn out like Nemeth, Pacheco etc and not succeed. I just think he has to get games to progress. I don't see how he gets these games with four defenders presumably ahead of him in the peaking order, maybe more.
  18. Yeah I think that's what we have seen so far. But we've not got Johnson now, Skrtel has impressed with Toure missing the last game and we have the new additions. So we might see something different or it might merely be Wisdom for Johnson and the same team that beat United. He's got loads of options so nothing would surprise me. One thing, I don't fancy Aspas in this game. Don't think we'll dominate possession, for the reasons you give in your opening post and he's not the best at linking up with Sturridge so far and I don't think he holds up the ball that well and away from home that's important. People said Van Persie would 'rape' Skrtel. He deserves to keep his place really.
  19. Rodgers has a lot of options now with Moses, Sakho and possibly Ilori entering the mix. Not sure how we will play, as I wouldn't be surprised if we went 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 or 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. It's great having loads of options but the problem with that is if we don't get the result we want, people will moan that we should have selected the other option other one Rodgers goes with.
  20. I agree the whole team didn't, but I wasn't the one saying he was great going forward against United.
  21. He was brilliant defensively in that game, but offered not much going forward. But I'm happy if he plays like that, as that's the main job of a full back to be solid defensively. He gets forward Johnson, but he doesn't offer any threat, he constantly loses the ball in the final third or just cuts on to his weaker foot and does hopeful crosses or shots. Not sure what's happened to him going forward as he used to be a real threat.
  22. He hasn't provided attacking threat for ages.
  23. Haha, yeah I still remember that match vs Boro.
  24. Some of them clearly haven't been, but no one knows if Ilori or if any of the youngsters in the past were good enough. But what we didn't see was any development from Le Tallec, Pongolle, Nemeth, Pacheco, even Suso hasn't progressed since the player who joined us. He's still got the same flaws in his game, despite being a good player to watch. Most of those players stagnated because they just hung around the reserve / under 21 league too long. Coates didn't even get a game for any team, he hardly played last season depsite being fit, Flangan is another who has hardly any football for any team the last 2 years. I think Ilori will be mainly playing in the under 21 league this season, not the first team.
