But painful as it is to say, after much soul searching I'm starting to think it's only hope - where once I had belief. He's steadied the ship without question, but this year's been a bad one in many ways and for many reasons. Some he can shrug off, others sit with him. But I don't want to see him get battered next season if we're 8th at Xmas, for his or LFC's sake. He's done more than anyone ever could again for this club. Just listened to the excellent Anfield Wrap on Kenny for the 1st time, lots of great comments and questions and devils advocating. Lots of backing for Kenny I agree with. Yet there is definitely a "Rafa in the room" because only Kenny could survive this season, and some of that is based on who to trust with replacing him. I don't want a Martinez given 10 years, he'll be a new Curbishley in comparison to the best candidate. For me, the previous PROPER manager of LFC before Kenny came back wasn't sacked by LFC, he was booted out by people who had no right to do so. They've since been chased away, Kenny hasn't pushed on as we'd hoped, so get the last fella back in - refreshed, backed properly by decent owners and wiser for the experience of his one bad year with us. Who knows, maybe even with Kenny's backing. He couldn't find anyone but himself to replace Benitez, so perhaps Kenny would give Rafa the chance again and tell us that's what he thinks. Kenny had unfinished business in the immediate years after he left in 91, but never got another go til our lowest point since then. The man who left in 09 has unfinished business now. More so if Kenny's not quite what we'd hoped he'd be this time around, and if FSG aren't going to back him to sort it out. And Benitez has already taken squads much worse than ours now to better things. Painful, but honest, so be nice...
