  3. we were on that train - we were taking the piss out of him but maybe it was him after all!!
  4. obviously thats true mate. However, a lot of the fakes doing the rounds were VERY convincing, and as we all thought that there would be 20,000 plus on the black market yesterday it's not all the fualt of those who entered the game with fakes. Before you ask, I had a genuine ticket after having 7 creds.
  5. i was outside the ground last night and was disgusted by the organisation of entry to the game. The policed funelled us into a tiny gap at the last checkpoint. I was with my dad, brother and a mate, and we all got seperated. My brother and i met up on the other side of the checkpoint, and were then horified to see the police move a coach to cut the gap to about 1 mtr wide. The pushing and shoving left a fair few people injured as they finally got through, after being battoned and teargassed as they were pushed from behind. Nobody was told what was going on for ages and the police obviously had no contingency plans in place to deal with this kind of scenario. Personally, i think the fact that nobody was seriously injured is the miracle of athens. Maybe because of our past we have more knowledge of how crushes can easily turn horrible, and this helped the situation on the ground.
  6. me what i'm wearing passport dosh scarf

  9. PMT kicking in badly today! [pre match tension]
  10. sounded class today from where i was sitting. It's going to catch on big time - i was singing it on the way out and at least 5 lads asked me the words - then we sang it for ages outside the alehouse after. We were singing 'scousers rule in Europe' lyrics but i thought i heard it as 'scousers rule the country' in the ground. A mate said it sounded boss from the lower centenary too - it's just a matter of time now until everyone gets the lyrics - hopefully it'll go for ages in the away leg so everyone gets the gist of it by the 2nd leg
  11. probably be another daytrip for about £500 for us lot - last time i was awake for 62 hours non stop!
  12. "It is so positive for the future. And I could not ignore the noise and support I received from the supporters last week against Eindhoven, it was tremendous and moving. I repeat, I am very happy here. It was not a difficult decision." Nice to know he cares ! Best news in ages this - looks like he's settling in for the duration doesn't it?
  13. love this! lets get it going big time by the time the cockneys come to town btw those fans are ace!
  14. top night in the Kop. I love it when we get ourselves going like that cos we were always going to be in for a yawnfest on the pitch Personal favourite was a full rendition of 'a team of carraghers' One omission though - Rockin all over the world at half time - cmon George mate sort it out!!!
  15. From Football365: "One Manchester United fan broke the cordon and was swiftly grappled to the ground by at least four officers. Police took out frightened children and parents who were in tears as the missiles rained down on them. A stand-off ensued outside the front entrance of Old Trafford as a heavy police presence created a no man's land about 30 metres between the Roma fans waiting to get into the stadium and the United fans who were congregating outside the Megastore. Police were steadily gaining control of the situation but the odd bottle still continued to be thrown into the Roma section. Police tried to hold the opposing fans apart as they queued to get into the ground. Press Association journalist Neil Lancefield said about 30 United fans charged a media group standing in the no man's land between the two sets of supporters. He said: "They just ran into us - we were between them and the Roma fans. We just pegged it towards the stadium." Riot police forced the United supporters away from the stadium, he added." outside the megastore - surprise surprise!!

  21. as i posted above a 2-1 result has happened in the knockout stages 20 times in the CL - with 10 wins going to the home side in the second leg and 10 wins to the away side. Although that would make it 50-50 I'd personally reckon Roma are slight favourites after Vidic got injured - the mancs have lots of injuries at the back, and will find it difficult to stop Roma scoring [especially if they play as well as they did last week]
  22. got to give you credit lads this thread has made me smile a fair few times over the last couple of days! For my part, while i do understand that it might be comforting to feel that you've got a good result when you've lost it simply doesn't add up. Drawing is better than losing. full stop. That's why you get a point for drawing in the league and no points for losing [even away - even 2-1 or 3-2 or 8-7]. I read somewhere that in the CL knockout stages there have been 20 games which ended 2-1 at the end of the first leg - of which 10 have gone to the winner of said leg and 10 have gone to the loser. Not sure what the stat is for 0-0 draws, but I'd bet that more have gone to the team playing at home in the second leg than the team playing away.
  23. glad to see your playiong again s***name
  24. glad he's safe mate
