  1. Marseille have the funds for Cisse now - hopefully they can stump up the money they agreed at the start of the season!!!! Ribery off to Bayern - Sky Sports Bayern Munich expect to complete the signing of Marseille star Franck Ribery on Thursday. The clubs are believed to have agreed a ?25million (£17million) deal for the France international, which would make Ribery the most expensive player in Bayern's history. "We just have a few details to settle, but the deal should be made on Wednesday," Marseille chairman Pape Diouf told L'Equipe. "Ribery will leave for Munich on Thursday to have his medical and sign the contract. Bayern have always acted in a perfectly fair way since they declared their interest. "When the player agreed to go to Bayern and our financial conditions were accepted, it was out of the question to imagine him going to any other club." Ribery is expected to agree a four-year deal. Diouf also confirmed that the money earned from the deal should allow Marseille to complete a deal for France striker Djibril Cisse. "At the weekend or early next week, we will negotiate with Liverpool to try to keep Djibril Cisse." Barcelona midfielder Ludovic Giuly recently hinted to a French radio station that he was eager to replace Ribery at Marseille, but Diouf claims nothing has yet been agreed. "It is a just a vague appeal from the Barcelona player so far. We have to see what the conditions of the deal would be. "But I have to be clear: we won't overpay anyone."

Riise (every cross field pass was intercepted as toed - best performance from an attacking liverpool left back under a hell of a lot of pressure in a while) Reina - cllass - just has what it takes one on one! Kuyt (whould have had a hattick if he had the luck! aboslutely fantastic effort = souldn't be;ieve he was standing for the penos)
  5. Who cares who the scapegoat will be we WILL win - come on red men!!!!
  6. Shameful miscarriage of justice - we shall never forget! Justice for the 96. Don't give up.
  7. Koeman to give youth a chance "PSV coach Ronald Koeman has named a youthful squad for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool on Wednesday. Koeman has included untried teenagers Rens van Eijden and Olivier ter Horst in his 18-man party following the withdrawal of several first-teamers through injury. Ibrahim Afellay, Jan Kromkamp, Edison Mendez, Michael Reiziger and Alex have all been ruled out of the trip to Anfield, while Alcides, John de Jong and Género Zeefuik are not eligible to play. Meanwhile, PSV had their lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie cut to just two points following a 2-1 defeat at NEC on Saturday" .............. With Mendez and Kromkamp out of an already depleted squad and while they are still in the hunt for their own league it might suggest that we might be able to rest a few players!
  8. Theres only one Nakamura....one Nakamura....eats chow mein...votes sinn fein walking in a celtic wonderland Probably thought they came up with Chow Mein first now!
  9. Yes well deserved - won 2 penalties and scored himself - just looked a class above! Sammi hardly put a foot wrong all game though - good reaactions for his goal and Masch did well as well - showed definite promise!
  10. I feel I belong at this club and I'm happy to be here. I am definitely not thinking about returning to Spain. "Despite being a recently promoted team, West Ham had a good season last year and got to the final of the FA Cup. This year they have not begun that well, but they have a good base and they have a lot more to give. Tevez and Mascherano are two good players. However they are not playing that many games. It is hard to adapt to life in the Premiership, it is a different kind of football here to what they will have played before.I am aware that Mascherano has been linked with Liverpool and I'm sure he would be able to make a very interesting contribution. If the boss feels that his inclusion would benefit the team he would be Personally, I am very comfortable at Liverpool. I feel I belong at this club and I'm happy to be here. I am definitely not thinking about returning to Spain at the moment. When the team is in good spirits and playing good football like we are now, then I feel very content. 11. Going back a bit but we were after Desailly wern't we?
  12. nah rafa and the players always say its the team that defends and clearly - 4 shots should have been blocked or pressure put on the players at least - bar the freekick mind you! The defence and midfield should be holding their hands up -the forwards as well could have been doing better holding the play up!
  13. Selective memories!!! Carson was responsible for Juves only goal! He fumbled a tame shot straight! Could have cost us as it was tightly balenced with that away goal - we would have been a bit more confident at 2-0
  14. Reds rockedOct 27 2006 By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo LIVERPOOL were today facing a crisis following an astonishing attack on Rafa Benitez by a member of his own board. An anonymous member of the Anfield hierarchy is quoted heavily criticising the Reds manager, in a move which has stunned supporters. The Reds are now expected to launch a full investigation into the origins of the statements, with some sources at Anfield privately believing the position of the individual concerned is now clearly untenable. The unnamed source was quoted today saying: "When it comes to any manager, the view of the board has always been to let them geton with it. We do not believe in interfering. "But the day will come when we may not be that way inclined any more. The manager must stand or fall by his efforts. "We have paid too many inflated prices and inflated wages for players who are not doing the job. We have too many players of poor quality. "When the manager decides they are not doing the job, we cannot get rid of them because nobodywants them for the sort of money we want back. "It means we're losing money we can't afford to lose. "Normally, by the time you get to October, you'd expect the manager to know his best team and stick with it but there are no signs of that happening. I don't think he could tell you what his best team is." Liverpool officials were today formulating a response amid growing anger at what many close to the manager believe is a spineless attack on the Reds boss. Benitez rejected overtures from Real Madrid a few months ago, and unless Liverpool act swiftly to emphasise the remarks don't reflect the overall view of the board who have only just handed Benitez a new contract, there is a clear danger he'll become unsettled. There was a furious reaction from fans' groups. Secretary of the Merseyside branch of the Liverpool supporters' club, Les Lawson, said: "I find it totally unbelievable a member of the Liverpool board would criticise the managerwho won the Champions League in his first season, with the worst squad since Bill Shankly arrived at the club. "He then wonthe FA Cup in his second season and won more league points in a season for Liverpool since the Premier-ship began last year. "Whoever is responsible for these comments is completely out of touch with how Liverpool fans think, and I would have thought he'd be more concerned with working towards attracting the investment which would help Rafa build a team to challenge Chelsea." http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0500liv...-name_page.html
  15. Very good article - articulating the views that many Liverpool fans are having this morning and demanding action! Bluntly someone on that list is to blame or the newspaper is culpable!
  16. Think it says "f off KELVIN" - as in McKenzie!
  17. Did well tonight - thought the commentary tonight was atrocious - building him up for a fall! Did everything that was required tonight!

    Alves

Jamie Carragher has been known to play there a few times - but we have the options of playing 3 at the back now - which could be ideal against some teams and it would also allow 3 in midfield so that Gerrard, Momo and Alonso could all play together in the middle!
  19. Kenny is a great manager - he has attracted players who were born in the town back to play for their home team and boy has he got them playing - they were skirting relegation 2 years ago before he arrived and them got them to second in his first season - 1 match away from winning the title and this season you can see the way they are playing - class - part timers with one game in hand to go top of their league! Red and white army! We all live in the randy Brandywell! oh ah! the randy Brandywell..the randy Brandywell!
  20. Thought Pennant did well tonight but if rafa is going to play 4-4-2 with his first choice 11 I would have Gerrard on the right with Momo and Alono in the middle every time!
  21. Good point about Gonzales getting in the box to score - Pennant did hit some fantastic crosses in the second half - but I thought that in the first he could have gambled a bit more and took a chance and head into the box when zenden, riise, bellamy and stevie were all over on the left. In the second whilst throwing in some great crosses when Crouch came on he also drifted in a bit more when the ball was on the other side! - so great debut and hopefully he can keep on growing in confidence with the rest of the lads! I thought there was great movement from Bellamy - good workrate and it will take a while for everyone to know where he shall want the ball and where he will be running to - some glimpses of understanding with Stevie supplying some good through balls! Thought maybe the formation with stevie playing off Bellamy didn't get the best out of Stevie, Pennant or Bellamy - but you have to try it some time and as Rafa says - possibilities!

  23. They will probably do the squad photo in the next few days - as they usually do out in Switzerland and then post it on the site - you'll be bale to see who got on then!
  24. Rio Ferdinand was wasn't he as well
  25. I think the FA cup final second goal could be added to that list quite easily! Even the first goal was quality!
