Great reply. How to defend against the worlds best players yes. Isco, Ronaldo, Benzema, Rodriguez is not a forward line you meet in the Premier league at all. If you want to point out the atrocious defending for the second and third goals then i think that these are easilly dealt with than excellent play. If you switch off that causes goals, over the past few weeks we have had no awareness at corners and our reactions to movement in the box has been dire. BUT I think that this can be addressed a lot easier than defending against world class play. If we sort out the easy stuff, our younger players take heed of what the world class stuff is then we can look forward to progress in all sections of the team.

There are not too many defenders scoring as many goals in a title run in as Martin. All players make mistakes, central defenders just get them highlighted more than the rest because of the position on the pitch. Look at Kompany, people claim him as the best defender in the league yet I would have him culpable for for all three goals. If someone better is available then yes let's bring them in, from what I see there are very few better.

New year my a*** - thats the season done for him...9 months after ACL reconstruction. Lucas was a wonder coming back in 7 for preseason but probably should have taken it easier.... Plus side though - Wisdom, McLaughlin and not to forget Flannagan are given a chance....

Heartbreaking....hope the club could do something and that the family take something from it.

Thank God thats out of the way - some rusty performances there....Hopefully it will have been a good workout for those on the pitch.

How did Brad Fridel get off a 3 game ban after being sent off for similar against us in the 6-0 game against villa when rafa was in charge?

1) Henderson solely for the effort he put in tonight from the kick off...won tackles, headers, put in blocks, took a yellow and also was sending in crosses which were great from right back at 10 men... 2) Bellamy - worked his socks off as well but his first touch was class all night - kept us ticking over + over + over - set up first and scared their defence all night whilst providing cover for ours. Always nagging at the referee and other players - but put in the effort himself to back it up. 3) Shelvey - could have scored the second - great work rate, passing and never afraid of a tackle - he really said tonight that he deserved to be a premier league player - from now on he needs to prove he's a level above that for us. 3) Andy Carroll - coud have scored the second and should have scored from the corner before his goal. Won most things that came his way, held up the ball and scored a goal - Thats what forwards should do though - kept going and deservedly stayed on all 90 mins and got the break he deserved. SHould have been higher except i think he should get some blame for not sticking with Yakubu for the first goal and should be making more intelligent runs in the box - too static at times. Honourable mentions - everyone else! Glen Johnson - First game back after an injury - was a great outlet and kept pushing us forward - great at left back and right back - hopefully being kept safe for Saturday. Daniel Agger - Threat going forward and assured at left back - though to be fair I didnt see much threat from their wings - hoilett was effective but as a free player you have to expect that sometimes. Skrtel - Skipper - should have had a goal himself - won all of the aerial and ground duels that i can remember - well done tonight our captain! Coates - Never did a thing wrong - not eeasy for a young centre back to say that about! Maxi - two goals and intelligent play - was very quiet in second half though so probably needed to be substituted. Spearing - hardly noticed him - bit like Lucas when he is playing well - didn't fly into tackles but put pressure on when it was needed.

Yep, the club should employ John bishop to do the interviews if the press want something entertaining to write about! We should give nothing away....seriously do you really need to know if someone is 2.3 days away from returning from injury....just check out the team sheet and worry then or else pick players from other teams for your fantasy football team.

At the end of last season we had Maxi, Kuyt, Meireles all bombing past him when he held the ball up - there ain't no reason why Henderson, Downing and Gerrard can't join in when they are playing!
