Torres Cuts Short Holiday To Close Deal Fernando Torres has cut short his summer holiday to return to Madrid where he is locked in talks to iron out the final details of his move from Atlético to Liverpool. zoom - galleria The Spain international striker was asked by both clubs to come back from Polynesia in order to complete the transfer after a fee was agreed as reports that he was demanding €40m over six years was dismissed. Liverpool have refuted reports that the 23-year-old was holding out for wages of around €150,000-a-week and it is believed that a deal worth €15,000 less has been agreed. Torres gave his verbal agreement to the move at is now set to compolete the formalities on a deal that would break both clubs' record transfers with €32m changing hands. The Reds' have proven that they are willing to spend big in order to close the gap with Manchester United and Chelsea and the Torres' transfer dwarfs their previous highest fee paid for Djibril Cisse at €19m in 2004. Liverpool's chief executive, Rick Parry, was given the task of realising the move for Torres and he is now only hours away from being able to announce that it is official. The reaction of the Atlético de Madrid supporters who held a protest in the Spanish capital last week should be softened after los Colchoneros brought in Diego Forlán and Juan Román Riquelme. Ricardo Quaresma is also said to be close to agreeing a switch to Vicente Calderón, meaning that the club could have a stronger squad that last term even without Torres. While the Liverpool front line is being strengthened, the Reds are close to snapping up Gabriel Heinze from Manchester United for €5m. Source: Goal.com

Italian international Franchesco Totti will be joining Liverpool for €8.5m (£6m), the Seria A club said today. "The player will travel to Liverpool this afternoon in order to under go a medical tomorrow" Roma said on it's website. Totti has thought to be angry that he has only offer a one extention to his current contract and has been told by his current employers that they cannot meet his wage demands at the moment, that is what has lead to Totti's suprise move. "Yes I have heard he wants an increase in wages, and well considering he was Serie A top scorer and won the European Golden boot, he has a point, no?" Said Benitez. Totti has only one left on his with Roma and it's thought that deal with Liverpool is based around Totti buying out his current contract with the Italian club, Liverpool have yet to agree to personal terms with Totti who has been at Roma since 1992, but if he does, he 30-year-old would be the forth striker signed by Benitez after Fernando Morientes, Peter Crouch and Dirk Kuyt. edit: link didn't work.

http://www.all3points.co.uk/cat/liverpool/zar180607.php Liverpool have made a move for Zaragoza striker Diego Milito according to reports over the weekend. The News of the World claims that Liverpool have launched a £13 million bid for the Argentinean striker after accepting they are set to lose out to Tottenham in the race to sign Charlton's Darren Bent. 28 year old Milito scored 22 goals for Zaragoza last season and the paper quotes him as saying: "Liverpool are a club any player would like to move to. I believe I could adjust without any problems."

This is South America's answer to the Champions League, between Boca Juniors and Grêmio. Hopefully Lucas is in the startup, but don't know. Anyway, I thought I should create a mini-guide for people who wants to see this match on a computer. (don't know if any english channels are showing it) Download these two programs: Sopcast, Tvants (google it) For sopcast, try one of these channels: Solaris Sport, Makaiko Sport, AA+TV For Tvants, who may have english commentators, try Super England. The match starts 01:45, your time Hope this would be appreciated, and sorry for my bad english. Any questions?

Don't know what to think actually. Benitez told us right after the CL-final that he had 2 signings "ready" and we had to stop the talking and do something about it instead. 3 weeks later, and no news, just talking. Then, Hicks said we would hear something about a big signing within a week. It's now 10 day since he said that. Have anyone heard something other than rumours? It's a frustrating time!
