Talking of s*** seasons saw Premier League Years on Sky the other day where they were showing 2010/11 (had erased this season from my mind for obvious reasons). United won the league with the likes of Evans, O’Shea, Rafael and a past it Giggs. Finished on 80 points ahead of Chelsea and City on 71 points. Mid table were Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton, Stoke and WBA. But yeah this season is s***.

Been consuming all the football content I can in the last few days so listened to the Guardian podcast for the first time in ages. The narrative seems to be rather than give us credit for building such a good team, the major factor has in fact been luck in having less injuries than City and Arsenal. No giving us any credit for managing our squad, Slot bringing his sports scientist with him, or Klopp building the squad so there is adequate cover for the injuries we’ve had. And it’s definitely not that we attack better than Arsenal injuries aside and have more world class players than them. I mean it’s not like we were 9 points ahead before Saka even got injured. Randomly Barry Glendenning picked us to win the title at the start of the season (broken clock etc).

With Europa you always have a 3 day turnaround between Thursday and Sunday with no let up and usually a lot of travelling. Usually why teams in the Europa League struggle in the league second half of the season and don’t maintain a title challenge if they’re anywhere near it (see Arsenal 22/23). You always need a bit of luck but our playing style this season may have had some impact in the squad not falling apart as well.
