  1. He claimed he scored more goals on the right but does he actually believe that is his best position? I suspect the argument was constructed as so to get the journos off his back. With the squad we have, Gerrard has to play right sometimes, there's no escaping it.

  5. He had to give a lot of virtual head to get that one.
  6. The 'El Hadji Diouf c***-o-meter'. In stores now.
  7. The fourth against Ukraine has always stuck in my mind. Strength when receiving the first pass from Puyol, lightning pace over 10 yards to receive the second and a fantastic controlled volley. Brilliant stuff.
  8. So if I'm getting my maths right here, there are only, er, 2 1/8 world class players. My mind is well and truly blown.

  10. Torres is the world's 35th best player. Apparently. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle1963015.ece
  11. You're right it could be out of the club's hands. I'd still be gutted.
  12. If Garcia leaves and we bring in Benayoun for his role in the squad a part of me will die.
  13. Doubt Reyes would want to come back to England. Remember reading a FourFourTwo interview soon after he came to the Premiership, it was obvious he wouldn't be here long.
  14. Ashton is a good player but Premier League regulations prohibit us from fielding players using crutches.
  15. If Henry doesn't go to Barca I'll eat my hat and your hat for that matter sir. Yes you.
  16. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...y+home+comforts Liverpool, on the other hand, have to travel to Aston Villa on August 11th, a tricky encounter which will be their fourth opening day Premiership game played away from home in a row. Indeed, the Anfield giants have begun 10 of the their 15 campaigns so far with an away fixture, significantly more than any of the other 'Big Four'.
  17. This thread gets a lot of bad press but I'm a fan. It makes me laugh, cry, excited, disappointed, get angry and then feel more relaxed in the space of 45 seconds.
  18. Level on points with Mancs and Chelsea, 114 to play for, it's so on.
  19. This 'sommat else' you speak of, what is it and where can I find it?
  20. Chelsea started with 4 CMs on the pitch for a lot of season, can't see us playing more than 3. Who are United's 4 or 5? Carrick, Scholes, Fletcher and O'Shea - there's a hierachy there, Fletcher and O'Shea will expect to play less than the others whilst both can also fill in at other positions. Sissoko, Alonso, Gerrard and Masch will all expect to start the majority of games. Unless we get big injuries, there will be 1 or 2 unhappy CMs come next June.
  21. Yeah, Rafa said he was more Bellamy than Crouch. He is more of a second striker. If you were to compare him with others, he?s more like Craig Bellamy in his style of play than Peter Crouch. ?He is a runner and a hard worker who can score goals. Maybe between ten and 15 a season.?
  22. Probably shouldn't complain but I can understand your viewpoint, 5 into 2 over a season doesn't seem feasible but I'm sure there'll be more rotation and Gerrard will be allocated the right and a more advanced position for a fair proportion of games. Does Lucas have a history of playing any other position?
  23. Good point, his first against Wigan is the only one that springs to mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69QNdkDWgOg Great finish it must be said.
  24. The post Athens quotes were strange in that they firstly disregarded the fact that Hargreaves was blatantly overpriced and with superior scouting United could have signed a better player at half the fee, whilst also Rafa had not complained about the finances summer 06, if anything the noises coming out of the club were ones of optimism. His comments seem to be born more out of frustration at missing out on targets such as Alves and Simao and hurt after defeat to Milan rather than an actual belief we have to beat United's spending to win the league. Right or wrong, that's my take on it. Rafa loved Parry Aug 06 when he expected a title challenge from his new and improved squad.... "I'm really happy with our board and scouting department who've worked really hard to make the signings this summer," said Benitez. "We know we don't have big money, but the chairman and Rick Parry have worked extremely well to bring the best players we can into the team. "Pako Ayesteran and I were talking about howstrong our squad is compared to other teams. We think we have a lot of new players now who can really play. "It's one thing to spend big money on players who don't do a job, but another when you spend it on quality players. "With Pennant, Bellamy, Kuyt, Aurelio, Paletta and Gonzalez, we know we have spent money on those we will use, can play well, and have talent. "In the case of Bellamy and Pennant, people talk about risk, butthereis no question mark about their talent or adaptation into the team. "I see two players for us in each position now. For sure we can improve, and we will continue to try to do so, but we have also signed young players whowill stay here for many years. Fair enough more money, more chance of success but there's no doubting Rafa f***ed up with a couple of signings as we finished nearly 10 points down on the previous season. It seems OK to demand the money now it is seemingly available but he's setting himself up for a fall if things don't improve with regards to our league form.
