Don't worry Ant, plenty of older and so called wiser people than you seem to be having problems getting their heads around how this might work because they are not familiar with Co-operative and Community Owned business models - they may understand (or think they understand) how conventional business works but this is a different ownership model. Co-opertive/Community Ownership is a business model developed over 150 years ago as a mechanism to ensure that the interests of people were served equitably. A Co-operative is run in the interests of those people it was set up to serve, rather than the interests of maximising the profit for shareholders as conventional business models are. There are very sucessful co-operative business ventures in finance, retail, wholesale, farming, housing, manufacturing and yes in sport. It is a much more common approach to ownership in Europe and America than it is in the UK. Anyone who wants to know a little bit more about co-operatives should try looking here: International Co-operative Alliance or here: Co-operatives UK or here, if you want to know a little bit more about how it works in football Supporters Direct
