I went to this business dinner and he was the guest speaker. There were only about 20 people there and it was in Manc so he starts off going on about our new stadium. He said he was supporting the idea of a shared stadium but he couldn't believe how aggressive the opposition to it was. He said he even had a death threat in the post. I was sitting about four seats away and the guests are all grinning and looking at me (my name on here is what everyone calls me in Manc) and one of the lads I know (City fan) shouts out "Do you know anything about that?" so I put on my best mad eyed look and stared Broomhead right in the eyes: "I sent it" I said. He looked really uncomfortable and after the dinner finished and we were all in the bar he wouldn't make eye contact and never spoke to me. But if he wanted us to share I hope he did feel uncomfortable.

Everton's title questioned by Bobby Charlton
Scally Bob replied to R A Softlad's topic in General Football Discussion
I would rather Chelsea win it than that shower because they will implode soon enough and will never be our true rivals. But until it's mathematically impossible we should be after it. I don't ever want anyone except Liverpool to win anything. Charlton is an ignorant ticket-touting beaut anyway. And why are Geordies e-mailing about anything? Why is it an argument for them to get involved in? Isn't it 55 English Clubs that have won a domestic trophy since they last did? -
Larsson isn't staying because he's had a fall out with Ferguson. He was compared by the laxative-lover to Cantona and he was upset about it. "I'm not a flat track bully who got ditched by my national side and did nothing of note except fight with policemen in Europe" he told an insider.

Those statistics are highly influenced by the fact that Cardiff had an exceptional start to the season. They still haven't had a capacity crowd, although the highest against Birmingham City might just have been-two sets of neanderthals need plenty of segregation. The Club has also been providing large numbers of £1 tickets for children and various other reduced admission charges. Despite this Chairman Sam Hamman has complained about a lack of support. Over a season they won't get the percentage to capacity they have now, as they are currently dropping like a stone.. You haven't shown Swansea's statistics. I looked them up but it shows their average is higher than their capacity-I know they recently left the Vetch but that can't be correct. Whether they are in the FA or not-I suspect they may have some dual membership-I still don't want them or Celtic or Rangers or PSG or Barcelona or Boca Juniors in the FA Cup.

"We" is the English Football Association. And their behaviour is neanderthal-like because they seem to think any game that attracts a moderate crowd is an excuse to start trouble. The grounds are nearly empty all the time but when they play an English side in the Cup all the local idiots see it as a chance to kick off. The fact that they are Welsh is incidental, I have nothing against the Welsh, but as they aren't in the same FA they could possibly be excluded from it's competitions. If you read the thread I also said I'd like Millwall kicked out and last time I looked New Cross wasn't in Wales.

If that's true about the bows and arrows how come Plod always move Chester v. Wrexham to a Sunday?

For the avoidance of doubt, I dislike Swansea and Cardiff fans who want to recreate whatever conflict there was between the English and the Welsh hundreds of years ago every time they get the opportunity. And when I went to Wrexham (admittedly it was about 1978) they were the same. These fans, and to an extent some Welsh people in general circumstances, seem to think that as they are a minority compared to the English we should accommodate the aggressive behaviour that their shoulder chips generate. It would also suit me to have Millwall kicked out of the League and Cups as well. Me? I don't care. I'd rather go to Cardiff than Wembley but that's not because it's in Wales, just because it's not in London.
-
I don't dislike the Welsh people actually. They've always been very welcoming when Liverpool have played at Cardiff. But Swansea and Cardiff fans show the same xenophobic attitude as Ingerlund fans (whom I also despise) playing in Germany every time they cross the border. If they hate it that much, don't bother coming.
-
If you don't like the English why do you follow Liverpool? I'm not arrogant or upper class and I've no time for Anne Robinson. But I object to Welsh teams singing what amounts to racist songs on the rare occassions that the mickey mouse teams get any publicity. I don't want Welsh teams in the League or the Cups any more than I want Scottish teams in them. Whenever Cardiff or Swansea play in the Cup outside Wales you can virtually guarantee trouble. We've moved on from that.

Seeing as both Cardiff and Swansea could be heard clearly having a go at the English (and no doubt Wrexham were doing it at Derby if my sole experience of the Racecourse is any guide-Kenny hat trick) isn't it time we kicked these wools out of English competitions and let them play each other every week? They are a load of inbred neanderthals who only turn up when there's a chance of a seventies-style kick-off against the English sides. Who needs them?

I was at a business exhibition at Anfield the day Piechnik signed and dressed in a suit I was able to get into the press meeting and I was on TV that night. That's a better story.

I saw a letter on Teletext about someone or other supposedly being after Scott Parker. The Geordie who wrote in said Parker wouldn't leave and he is a "legend" at St.James' Park. If he's a legend what would they call a proper player who actually won something. Most Geordies are idiots with absolutely no knowledge of football.

I remember the first decision Souness made as Manager was to drop Hyssen against Norwich. He had gone completely. I remember phoning Radio City the day before we played the Mancs and telling Alan Keneddy that Hyssen was hopeless. Barney did his usual sitting on the fence routine. Next day in the Old Toilet bar there's Barney so I told him I'd rung in but he still wouldn't admit he was garbage. In the first half of that game under little pressure Hyssen decided to punch the ball in the penalty area and we went in a goal down. Couldn't find Barney at half time unfortunately. Hyssen was a bad buy. His best was already behind him and he was too old to adapt to the pace and physicality of English football.

I take one when it's cold and generally to Euro aways. The scarf I wear is a 1977/78 back-to-back European Champions scarf that was our kid's but he lives in Oz now so doesn't need it. He saw me on telly at Stamford Bridge in the semi-final with it on. I knew I should have worn a jester hat.

Wouldn't argue with that. I was going to say him but I forgot his name.

Unusually for me I watched all of this game last night. Chelsea are very ordinary and Maurinho is shown up as a weak tactician who doesn't know how to use the vast resources he's assembled. Villa had lost seven on the trot so a 4-4-2 with Drogba and Shevchenko goung for the jugular was the way to go. He's clueless. Not as clueless as the Sky whoppers talking about Chelsea as if they are the greatest team ever. And how did that hunchback get MOM? Essien was head and shoulders better than him, even the Villa midfield were better. Maybe they meant Lampard was MOM for Villa because he unfailingly found a claret and blue shirt or cleared any impending danger near the Villa goal.

You did well to spot that. What attack?

We've only won one game this year. Get rid now!

Heinze is for me the best left back in the League at present. A full back's first resposibility is to defend. If he can get forward and score a couple it's a bonus. I don't think Riise is that great going forward anyway, he lacks technical ability.

I doubt it. Read this http://members3.boardhost.com/RAOTL2/msg/215.html
