Carlos Tevez takes a trip down memory lane
Scally Bob replied to Magic8Ball's topic in General Football Discussion
Tevez has said that he wants to join a "European giant" in the summer. So if he stays in England, it's us-especially as our nearest rivals were beaten by Yeovil in the play-offs. -
Scheduled flights are the way to go. Budget airlines and these agents look OK on paper but they don't have the clout for landing and take-off times. That means when it's busy they get rescheduled. It might cost a bit more but there's less chanced of being dicked about.

Two nights, so: Nationwide Flex Account Card and credit card Whatever Euros left from last trip Passport Ticket Phone Pair of shorts 2 x undies 2 x socks 2 x clean LFC shirts Toothbrush Electric shaver Buy some shower gel over there if there's none in the hotel. And my brother's 1977/78 Double European Champions scarf-he lives in Oz now and he insists on a photo of it from every Euro away.

And lost one Final in Adidas.

Women playing football is just wrong. That's all.

Real Madrid have won it nine times, not eight. I didn't enjoy the 2007 win as much as 2005 for the reasons some others have stated (although I'm old enough to have been to six Finals) but what stopped my complete enjoyment was the thought of meeting that horrible shower in Athens and being unable to get excited about that prospect. After Milan gave them what for though I cheered up. The 2005 semi was a new experience for many fans and was all the better for that. Talking up the atmosphere this year meant it wasn't as spontaneous.

Reading the Daily Manc today they were saying that Whiskey Nose's CV is missing European success. Next season it will be harder for him because Real Madrid, Barca, AC Milan, Internazionale, Bayern and Chelsea will all have better squads. If we were England's most successful Club and the only one to have won anything in Europe this century we might be in that group.
-
What this absolutely guarantees is that credit hunting will increase. If the Club repeats the ludicrous practice of not carrying Euro away credits forward there will be 20,000 applications for the first away next season. And like at Galatasary about 700 will actaully attend the match. Unlike Galasaray the others will be sold on and whoppers who never travel will be sitting smug with all their credits lined up.

Just take a moment to think of all the Mancs.
Scally Bob replied to psl 's topic in General Football Discussion
The most famous club in the whole world who play the best football ever seen and have all the best players ever and who everyone wants to be and are the most successful team since football was invented in 1993 (can you guess who this is?) have won one away game in Europe in three years. -
I was at Wigan yesterday and they really are dreadful. But I'd love Colin to take the Blades down.
-
They've always written us off because we're not English, we're Scouse. They just don't get it and I don't care. Even in the seventies and eighties we got no credit whatsoever. But that's a good article. It must have choked Ferguson saying that. Back on our perch Fergie!

A lad I know knows Shearer. They both have shares in this Country Club up there. What happened was it was in injury time and the Munsters were losing. Keane went to get the ball but Shearer moved it. Keane whined at the referee about Shearer wasting time but because Keane was in a rage when he tried to pick it up he accidentally knocked it away. So Shearer, straight faced, just says "Fecking hurry up Roy" and the Manc lost it. And this lad reckons Shearer would do Keane. Just ask Gillespie who used to play for the Geordies.

You're confusing hime with Peter Kenyon I think.

All todays games - match thread
Scally Bob replied to Benitez 's topic in General Football Discussion
Colchester just scored to lead Dirty Leeds 2-1 in injury time. Ha ha ha! -
No they wouldn't. They'd make another St.Georges Cross with Folkestone Reds or something on it.

Never really liked Berger. Far too inconsistent. Weeks of infuriating anonimity would be saved by a screamer every now and then. A five-minute clip of his contribution in a season would make you think he was a world beater but most of the time he was a passenger.

I've seen it on the BBC site but not on UEFA. Is it anywhere on line? A link would be appreciated.

How do you know that Will?

Fair enough but the yardstick is the League. Rafa's worked miracles really but it takes a good few years to build a squad with enough depth of quality to challenge for the title. The Club has basically had to re-engineer itself from the Academy through to the Boardroom and on a limited budget as well. The Champions League isn't as hard to win as the old European Cup: you had to win the League and you could be drawn against some unknown team with fantastic players (e.g. Dinamo Tibilisi) but these days those sides don't get the chance to mature-the kids are sitting on benches in La Liga, Serie A or the Premiership. The Champions League is fixed to ensure that G14 clubs get all the loot. The UEFA Cup used to be the equivalent of today's Champions League really. It's great that we have a chance of winning in Athens but despite all the hype, I think the Champions League isn't the real measure.

I'll remember that when the Munsters are attacking women on the concourse after next season's game at Old Trafford.

Der der der der der der der derrrrrrr at England game?
Scally Bob replied to a topic in Liverpool FC
It's an old argument all this, but I don't dislike Ingerlund because I think it's a cool thing to do. I wouldn't want to be in amongst a bunch of S*n reading, Soccer AM seal-clapping beauts but that's only part of it. I just cannot understand how anybody could actually sit/stand there and cheer on the likes of Neville, Lampard, Ferdinand or Rooney. I just could not do it. How do all the whoppers from Reading/Watford/West Ham etc. justify giving Gerrard abuse when he takes a corner at the Anny Road then call him "Stevie G" when he plays for Ingerlund? And the media bias and London-centric angle has always made me feel that we don't belong there anyway. They don't want us, hence the concerted effort to get Gerrard to Chelsea. The media has never given the City or our Club deserved credit and any reference to us is usually delivered with a snide remark. It's not my team so I want them to lose. -

God I hope they get beat. Whoppers from Folkestone and Hereford singing Ring of Fire and calling our Captain "Stevie G" when they spend most of their miserable lives telling hubcap "jokes". -
Whisky-breath in magnanimous in victory shocker.
-
Gerrard should be back in the middle. We'd have beaten that shower yesterday if he'd played there. He's wasted out wide.

was the referee trying to make a name for himself?
Scally Bob replied to ricflairandy's topic in Liverpool FC
Some nine-year-olds must have had their game cancelled today because their referee took our game. He was out of his depth and generally poor. I am delighted Scholes got that red because he should have already been in the bath. But it's good old Scholesy, good professional yadder yadder. But we lost because we didn't get round the back of them. Too many crosses were simple to defend.
