  1. If he's improved so much why was he only on the bench at Marseille against us?
  2. Yes, that's me. I've unblocked it so you can mail me if you like.
  3. There are four of us. PM if you want a number. I think we've met before (Betis maybe), but the offer's there.
  4. The Anvil's the place to be.
  5. The Club should make anyone applying for Besiktas send in proof that they went to Porto. A copy of a flight ticket or hotel booking confirmation should do it. There's plenty of time to do it as well. Our allocation for Besiktas will probably be about 1,600. If I miss out to some credit hunter I won't be happy.
  6. I want it now. I've watched every game on telly and when we play Real Madrid me and my mates want to go there. That's the attitude. But we go everywhere. Everywhere. Earn your stripes lads. Build up your credits. Taste the disappointment of getting locked out. Seriously. people don't know the score. Barcelona 1976 in the car with £40 between us; border patrols at Berlin away; pay on the gate at St. Ettienne; rub outs; Howie Gayle in Munich. And I should stand aside because you want a little jaunt? Where were you at Galatasaray? Or in Athens in 1984? Everyone in the seventies and eighties was a regular. The same lads at Brighton away or Carlisle or Spurs would be at Alkmaar or Widzew Lodz. Why are people picking and choosing? Can't make it to Portsmouth but I'll be in the San Siro. Part-timers.
  7. Boo hoo, I want to go to a Euro away game and it's not fair. I tell you what, I'll give up my loyalty to make you feel better. After all, I've been doing Euro aways since 1973 so I've had my share. If people were that desperate to go away why were there only 500 of us at Galatasaray? While you're at it you can have my tickets for Woodison and Old Toilet this season because I go there every year as well. Why should genuinely loyal fans give up what they've been doing for years just to keep Johnny-come-latelys happy? It's about time loyalty carried over in Europe but they should give the tickets out over there to keep the credit hunters out of it.
  8. Unfortunately this site doesn't permit swearing so I can't say what I think of him. Love to meet him though
  9. If you think those comments are bad read Rod Liddle's alleged humour. He reckons one of the worst sights is "Anfield with it's yellow ribbons and black armbands". And this is in a column where he's basically moaning that Joanthan Ross earns more than him. Nothing to do with football whatsoever.
  10. Me. Souness was a true leader and a winner who did it consistently. He took over from local lad European Cup Winner Thompson half way through the season after we just got battered at home by City and dragged us to the Championship. I coundn't see Gerrard doing that. He was also an enforcer who didn't let anyone take liberties, especially with Kenny. Gerrard has all the ability but until he dominates games and forgets his Ingerlund mates more frequently then he can't be compared to Souness.
  11. Never really understood all this admiration for Berger. A goals compilation DVD would indeed be spectacular but what about the weeks and weeks of inconsistency in between? There were plenty of games where his contribution was non-existent. He had terrible luck with injuries, fair enough, but he just didn't do it often enough. His right foot was about as good as Riise's but he always came inside and rarely put in decent crosses. Half the time it was hard to work out where he was supposed to be playing and his wandering meant the team had no proper shape. A very nice bloke, I'm sure, but never consistent enough.
  12. That's ridiculous. No London journalist would spend eight weeks in a bed and breakfast in Sheffield.

  14. I hate those boards. I can remember the first time I saw them-at Wembley in 1989 against the Bitters. Really distracted me as Aldo scored the first.
  15. Souness did in 1984, at Bucharest, what Keane did in Turin, only better. Plus he never got suspended and Captained the side in Rome.
  16. People refer to the Celtic fans in Seville but as they actually took more fans than would fit into Parkhead, many would have gone with full expectation of not getting in. And the Seville stadium has turnstiles. The ease of finding tickets in Istanbul caused many to believe it would be the same in Athens. People were already angry about how the Club dealt with the inadequate allocation and many presumed that their six credits would get them a ticket and booked before they were confirmed. Add to that the increasingly poor behaviour, drinking all day, snorting charlie and aggression that accompanies us on all our away trips in Europe now and the outcome on Wednesday is no surprise. It's going back to the pre-Heysel days. It's only a matter of time before there's another disaster.
  17. The only consolation would have been that Everton would have been banned from the UEFA Cup next season.
  18. Agreeing with Paddy Crerand is the first sign of madness. I suppose that means they will count 1969 as a win? What about us in 1965?
  19. The problem with the new stadium atmosphere is that you had two poor sets of fans. If we'd been there it would have been better. The original post was about us being airbrushed. We are England's most successful team domestically and abroad yet the press would have you think that the Munsters, Arsenal and Chelsea are all more successful. They even make out these minnows have done anything in Europe. Get used to it, it's always been the same. We aren't an establishment Club. We're not English, we're Scouse. Who cares what they say?
  20. Last time they had a parade the traffic chaos was like St. Helens on a Bank Holiday.
  21. The way the media suck up to Scholes makes me vomit. If Mascherano did what ginger pubes gets away with they'd be screaming blue murder.
  22. Always great to see that shower lose and even better that they have something to moan about. That was one of the worst Cup Finals I have ever seen. If we were in a game like that the press would slaughter us. Taggart is clueless. No tactics, no idea how to defend and he made a big mistake leaving Ronaldo out of the side. As we all know, he's officially the Greatest Player Ever since football began in 1993 and he could have won that game on his own if he'd played.
  23. Third and fourth place play offs are always dull. If we played like either of these we would get absolutely slaughtered for being boring or lacking ambition or whatever. But these two will get away with it. I reckon if Chelsea had picked Lampard they might have won. What I've read and heard of him is that he is a world class midfielder. I can't really comment though because I've never actaully seen him play. And Scholes should be off.
