  1. I was thinking about this the other day. While it is possible to argue justification for a straight red against Gerrard in that game, you could equally level the same argument at their fullback, who 10minutes earlier had gone through Meireles studs up. Someone suggested this was just showing comittment - what nonesense. He repeated this stunt last week as well and received ... a yellow card. If referees wish to implement the letter of the law this is a straight red. We've seen some crazy decisions this season - Joe Cole on day one against Arsenal, for instance. The most annoying thing for me though has been Da Silva committed two red card offences in successive games and yet his suspension will be shorter and have less impact than that of Gerrard.
  2. I thought Konchesky was married to his sister ... or was it his mum? I get so confused - it must be the way I talk. Harsh. I saw the Torben Piechnik, Istvan Kosma and Jimmy Carter era and then the time of Sean Dundee, Jean Michel Ferri and Mad Erik, who in turn were superceded by Biscuits, Bambi and Cheyrou. All the aforementioned were squad players - Christian Poulsen is way, way s***ter than any of them. Konchesky is ambitious and is pushing him for the crown of s***test player ever to have embarrassed the red shirt, but he isn't there ... yet!
  3. No mate, he's a tape worm -damaging the club from the inside. The sooner we swallow the bitter pill, the sooner he will come out. I have never given him a chance at Liverpool, nor will I.
  4. I'm not Johnson's greatest fan and was gobsmacked at the money that was shelled out on him. However, that's why I sit in a chair all day and Rafa does what he does. Several games into the season and I've been back for seconds and thirds of humble pie. Reading what Barclay has to say today you would imagine that Ashley Cole is the premier left back in world football. I am happy to sacrifice a bit of defensive stability for more potency in the opposition's final third. What Barclay failed to acknowledge was that although the Slovenians targetted Johnson, they were also very wary of his forward play which enabled the likes of Lampard, Rooney, Heskey and Gerrard to go about their work with a greater level of freedom. What a difference a game or two makes - at the beginning of the summer, Johnson was the b******s and the successor to Gary s**** at right back. Cole, for me, is good going forward as is Johnson, why can't analysts accept that Capello is happy with this style of play and analyze how the team won and moved itself to within a gnat's chuff of automatic qualification. Have they forgotten already the McLaren years?
  5. Well, if his judgement on the pitch is anything like his decision making off the pitch, Derby day will be a f***ing scream.
  6. Crikey blinking bobs, that thread is full of mentalists - din't even get past the front page before my bottle went.
  7. Justification indeed - buy him now!
  8. "The former Leeds boss is popular in these parts. Hence the banter with hotel staff who know him well." Linton travel tavern?
  9. Did you hear Kevin Ratcliffe on the TV last night defending Everton and Baines for the penalty. They were comprehensively done - two weeks ago and last night. As for the nobber blue saying 'just our luck drawing the hardest team', I'd put it another way: It was bad luck on Liege that they drew us, because pinch to a pound of s***, if they'd drawn any of the other teams in the qualifying round they would be in the champions league proper. THey are a much better team than PSV and would measure well against Marseille as well. Everton, well, they can content themselves with the fizzy pop cup. Oh, they're out of that as well!
  10. yes, and posting live links in forums is frowned on in many forums. That's why the prefix is missing.
  11. Just fuond this on Utube and thought I'd share it. The Hammers are happily chirping away with a camcorder with minute to go, when Stevie steps up and produces an audible sharp intake of breath from the luckless Londoners. It made me laugh anyway. youtube.com/watch?v=Go5mmKCBc1w
  12. This past two weeks Liverpool have been fair game for media experts happy to mark us down as also rans again because we didn't monster Boro, Sunderland or Liege. We are going to get a thumping in our CL group as well ... apparently. Never mind that we've won our two opening games playing, admittedly, pretty poorly, and have got into the Champions League against pretty handy opposition. I'm looking forward to the experts putting their assessment into context when Everton get a proper hiding off Liege. I'm putting a few quid on a decent aggregate win for Liege. Three nil is my inexpert opinion, though I'm sure Andy t***send adn others will assert that Everton are far too strong for the team that was beaten by an 'ordinary' Liverpool 11. Let Mbokani loose on them
  13. f***in hell, did we let him train with them?
  14. What a bell end. If anyone's job is under threat I'd say it was his. Let's see him qualify for the Champions League - let alone have a decent run in it! Bung-pocketing muppet.
  15. Good lad, Jamie. Carra shouldn't be playing second fiddle to any of the current centre backs - let Mclaren go with Wes Brown, Dawson, King or some other mug and he'll be out of a job by next spring.
