  1. I dont draw the line at winning them, but I certainly do draw it at competing for them. we were damn close to the title last year, and so all fully expected the key acquisitions to consolodate what we unexpectedly achieved last year. 2 key signings, 3 at a push would have done that, in addition to what we had in place. However, we baulked at Flamini's wage demands, and let go Hleb, Gilberto, Senderos, and a couple of others, and have not even replaced them adequately, let alone strngthened from what we had. A centre midfield of Eboue and Denilson in the opening 2 league games, quite frankly, would be overrun in the Championship. Season ticket prices are rising (mine was 1300 this year), matchday revenues are rising, and yet we seem intent to be seen as nothing other than a fantastic blueprint on how to run a business, rather than a football club. what's galling is that we are taken as mugs, as when the season ended, we hear the manager talk about adding, talking about 'super super quality players', and so you pays your money, and then you feel like you have been duped, cheated. I hope to hell that I am wrong, and the yellow bar on SSN will appear at any time with the news that will change our season, but frankly, something stinks, and I dont know what it is. But if nothing changes, this is a landmark season in our recent history, as I can think of 2-3 clubs who will be very well placed to leapfrog us and beat us into the Champions league, and then start an inevitable decline, started by the departure Cesc.
  2. I genuinely think he doesnt have the luxury of another year before patience runs seriously thin. we could all get on board with the youngsters idea, but when he starts flogging them off and replacing them with even younger youngsters, it really does make you wonder where we are heading.
  3. Thats the million dollar question. It just seems inconceivable that he cant see what we can all see. I can only assume, and hope like hell, that he's waiting it out to see what happens with Barry and/or Alonso, though I'm not sure either are what we need right now. Much as I like Alonso, its a Flamini style grafter that we need.
  4. So, can we safely assume that the dirty Mancs have been exempted from the Respect campaign then?
  5. And its not getting any better any time soon. I have a horrible sinking feeling that we are about to go through something vaguely similar to what happened to you guys soon, with realisation that no significant transfer fees available, swiftly followed by a hostile ownership battle.
  6. Agreed 100%. We would have won the Champions League last year if it wasnt for Senderos* *and a dodgy referee
  7. No, and no. Thanks for cheering me up.
  8. To be fair, I think its an excellent buy, for what we need. Winning experience was what cost us so dearly last time. Its the big gaping hole in our midfield that concerns me.
  9. I am finding it monumentally hard to be optimistic about the new season, given the dealings so far. I always believed us to be a step ahead of you, but feel that has shifted this summer, unless something big happens in the next 2 weeks.
  10. I bow to your knowledge here, obviously, but was rotation of players not the gripe, rather than formations?
  11. Out of interest, is that because of an emotional attachment that would make it unpleasant to see him play for a rival, or is it a football reason, that you feel you would be strengthening a rival by letting him go to us?
  12. So, again assuming that cash is a little tough to come by at Anfield, how will your team move significantly forward from how it finished last year?
  13. If I may ask a question out of curiosity? I assume that Alonso to Arsenal would not be a popular idea for your lot. However, were we to be the only bidder for him, would you rather not sell him, and let us go in for Barry, or let Alonso go to us and give you the cash for Barry? Decisions Decisions
  14. OK, Question for you then: Would you rather keep Alonso and let us have Barry, or allow Alonso to come to us (assuming we were the only bidder) so you could go for Barry?
  15. Been taking a well earned break from all things Football - the collapse of last season took its emotional toll! Also just bought my first flaty, so been pretty busy. So whats going on? When are we going to buy Alonso so that you can buy Barry?
  16. Agreed. Not many players who could achieve what he did this year if he did leave. Still don't see it though
  17. Cant see it myself. Think he'll be throwing himself around premiership grounds for a couple of years yet.
  18. seems well worth a punt at that price. They must be offering mental wages for him to be going for it.
  19. Red card and keep the corner? Surely not a penalty. these quizzes almost make me feel sorry for referees, theres loads of s*** they gotta know. Almost makes me understand how they keep forgetting Paul Scholes isnt just a clumsy forward making 'forwards tackles'.

  21. Jesus, Hammann pushed his luck with his. And isnt Shevchenko heavily left footed? If so why in Gods name did he take his with his right?
  22. Thats not very ambitious. What about a dead leg or a broken nose a gunshot through the kneecaps
  23. He'll probably cheat. And be unbearable if he went on to win.
