We were still strongly linked with signing Tevez (as well as Rafa admitting he had made enquiries about Silva) even after buying Johnson - to the point where Tevez eventually announced that he couldnt upset United fans by signing for us. I have absolutely no doubt that Rafa thought he had at least £25m to spend on another forward at that time. I strongly believe the money was taken from Rafa after the banks got tough with the owners over re-financing. edit - sorry Knox you beat me to it
