It shouldn't be, but, to be honest, I'm glad it's in the public eye. Hicks' stock only dropped once the wrangling started being played out in the media. Before that, many people, including many Liverpool fans, thought Benitez was a bigger liability.

Benitez certainly seems to be siding with Hicks. But we all know Benitez is a deep thinker, a clever politician and (I think we can assume) has the club's best interests at heart - so I'm sure there's more to it than meets the eye. I can't accept he'd be happy to get a new contract, a big transfer budget and more power if it meant siding with someone who has the potential to ruin the club. I just refuse to believe Benitez can't see through Hicks given his poisonous words and behaviour since taking over, or that he will have forgiven Hicks for what he said about him earlier in the season.

Yep - but it would really put a spanner in the works if Benitez has, for whatever reason, allied himself with Hicks.

Thanks. This guy does seem genuine, having predicted that Hicks would try to get rid of Parry. Crossing my fingers he's wrong about Hicks buying out Gillett. While Gillett appears to have nailed his colours to the mast where Hicks is concerned, there are supposedly clued-up posters who believe Gillett to be as untrustworthy as Hicks in all of this.

Arsenal bang on about playing football the proper way only because that's all they can do. That they can't dig in when the going gets tough is a massive flaw in their game. Rather than try to address it, to add some steel, nouse to their performances, they try to take the moral high ground, which may win over the press, but it won't win them trophies.

At least Bascombe isn't even pretending to know what's going on regarding the takeover these days.
