  7. Nani out for a month after minutes of complicated surgery to get the plaster lined up correctly. The visit to the doctor was also lengthened by the lack of Calpol and Chupa Chups. Doctors also think that he may be teething as he complained of sore toothy pegs.
  8. Miki Roque to have tumour removed Former Liverpool defender Miki Roque will undergo surgery to remove a malignant tumour in his pelvis. Roque, who now plays for Real Betis in Spain's second division, says doctors have caught the tumour 'in time' and 'it has to be removed immediately'. The 22-year-old Spaniard will miss the rest of the season. He has scored two goals in 14 appearances this campaign. My link

  10. Some light Bank Holiday reading. Daily Post have compiled all the Hodgson-isms and given their comments below. link OF all the voices who have argued for a change of management at Anfield this season one man has consistently made the most compelling case – Roy Hodgson. There has never have been a Liverpool boss as universally disliked by supporters as the Londoner. But it’s not just the regressive tactics, awful signings (Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky) and pitiful away form (six defeats in nine games with a goal difference of -10) that has turned the Kop against him. Liverpool supporters have become accustomed to their managers being equally skilled as orators, a trend begun by the great Bill Shankly. Even the quieter men among the club’s roll call of bosses like Bob Paisley could be relied upon for cutting sound bites. Not Hodgson. Barely a press conference goes by without the former UAE coach embarrassing himself and the club, alienating a player or enraging fans. Here is a collection of the worst efforts of his first – and hopefully only – six months in charge: I preferred to put my weight behind David Ngog and Ryan Babel, who's never really been given a proper chance at centre-forward at the club. I'm hoping that between now and Christmas we'll have ample quality to see us through that period. On not buying another striker A club like Liverpool shouldn't have to rely on non-specialists like Dirk Kuyt or Ryan Babel ‘doing a job’ up front when they are primarily wide players. Hodgson changes his mind a month later. They'll be a formidable challenge – there's no question about that. On Carling Cup opponents, struggling league Two side Northampton I thought we did quite well when (Northampton) they took the lead in the extra time and we threw caution to the wind it gave us the equaliser. Hodgson uses the words ‘throw caution to the wind’ about playing a League Two side. At Anfield. That was as good as we have played all season..... To get a result here – against Everton – would have been Utopia. After the wretched loss to Everton I know Sir Alex (Ferguson) is not really a Liverpool man so I’m a bit concerned about my excellent relationship with him. I sincerely hope he forgives me for moving north and hopefully we can have a glass of wine together, maybe in secret. Hodgson endears himself to Liverpool fans everywhere I prefer to talk about the game and talk about issues that interest me. Mr Ferguson is entitled to any opinion he wants to have but I'm not going to come here and say I agree or disagree. Hodgson refuses to defend Fernando Torres against accusations of cheating I understand (Frank) Rijkaard has just been sacked from Galatasaray – he must be a great manager to have been sacked by Galatasaray. 'Nice guy' Roy on the Champions League and La Liga winning manager You would have to ask (Glen Johnson) 'do you think you're playing at top form and are you playing like the best right-back in the country for your club?' If he says yes, obviously we will have to agree to differ and if he says no, then you'd have to ask the question 'why not? Showing his man-management skills The protest does not help but it is something I have had to live with since I came to the club. Criticising the fans’ protest against the club’s former owners I was disappointed – and I've told him this – that he – Dalglish – applied for the job in the summer because I don't think that was ever really going to happen for him. Putting Liverpool legend Dalglish in his place, a man who has won more trophies than Hodgson has Premier League away games in his entire time in England I've been involved in some big derbies in my career and you know how much they mean to the fans.... I didn't like losing in those games, which I did quite often. I did poorly so it would be nice to change that. Hodgson shows he’s the man for the big occasion before losing 3-2 to Manchester United. He’s a quality player and we will be working hard on our tactics to make sure he doesn’t dominate the game. No, not Lionel Messi, rather Fulham’s Danny Murphy, who was sent packing by Liverpool six years ago. I think it would be a sad day for football and for Liverpool if someone who had been brought in with the pomp and circumstance, and the money it took them to release me from my previous contract, and being feted as one of England's best managers – if after eight games people are deciding this guy has got to go Showing his modest side. Are you from Denmark? (No, Norway replied the journalist) Ah, two countries I never want to work in again. Insulting a Norweigian journalist and a large part of Liverpool’s fan base. We have got a lot more expensive failures on our list than good players that we have brought in for next to nothing. Having a dig at Champions League winning former Reds boss Rafa Benitez and his transfer record What do you mean do my methods translate? They have translated from Halmstad to Malmo to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team. So I find the question insulting. To suggest that, because I have moved from one club to another, that the methods which have stood me in good stead for 35 years and made me one of the most respected coaches in Europe don’t suddenly work, is very hard to believe. Reeling off some of the massive clubs he’s managed. Not so much a who’s who of European football as a who are they? Today was a famous victory No, not Liverpool’s win in Istanbul but a 1-0 triumph over Bolton at the Reebok. There aren't many quality left-backs around in the world, never mind in England – so to find an English one ( Paul Konchesky) who can go straight into the team without any adjustment problems is a big advantage. Hodgson, who sold Roberto Carlos to Real Madrid while manager of Inter Milan, knows a good left back when he sees one. Christian (Poulsen) is an all-round player. He is capable of scoring goals, a good passer of the ball and a good defender. After paying £4.5m on the 30-year-old plodder. He's not that bad on the ball. After seeing him play. It is very early for me to make very strong judgements about where his best position is. Hodgson shows the depth of his research on £11.5m signing Raul Meireles, who has played his entire career in central midfield. Until he came to Anfield. I don't understand questions about Liverpool and Fulham players being different types Who said Hodgson doesn’t grasp how big a club Liverpool is? I've had several bad experiences. Even at Halmstad in the 70s, in the year we won our second championship, it took until the second half of the season to win our first game away and that broke a record going back two seasons. We went over two seasons without winning an away game. On his wretched away form throughout his career. Fans make their frustrations felt every time we lose, but unfortunately they may have to do that a few more times, because I can't see us going through a season winning every game. Roy promises the good times are going to roll again after the 2-0 defeat to Stoke I don't know where the stories came from that Gerrard would be fit for Newcastle. From your Head of Sports Medicine Dr Peter Brukner, Roy. It's not as if he'll be playing with a bunch of also-rans. I'm not asking him to play in the reserves. Asking Torres to play against Utrecht while also motivating his reserves I thought it would be a nice game for him (Torres) and a chance for him to get his confidence back. But I also had a talk to our fitness people and they made me see sense that it wasn't the wisest thing to do. Revealing who picks the team. I think we will cross that bridge when we come to it... I am not naive to believe there won’t be any danger and we will never lose a player like Torres, I understand these things can happen Issuing a stern hands-off Torres warning to pal Ferguson. Well, kind of. When it was mooted the club wanted me for the job I made it clear to Kenny I wanted him on board and it wouldn’t be like it was with Benitez where he’d be here in name only. It wouldn’t be the case that Kenny would be never be allowed to step foot into Melwood. Having another dig at the Spaniard, a claim which was exposed as a lie by the Champions League winning manager He's not so much a player I can really take responsibility for. I'd have to share the responsibility for Joe, less so than for people like [Christian] Poulsen, [Raul] Meireles and [Paul] Konchesky, who are players I was quite happy to bring to the club. Washing his hands of Joe Cole a week before the former Chelsea midfielder earns Liverpool a 2-1 victory over Bolton Ever since I came here, the famous Anfield support hasn't really been there. There was the problem with the owners and Kenny being so popular and the job going to me, so I have had to live with that. I have to hope the fans will become supporters because we need support. We are not deliberately losing games. Roy puts the final nail in his coffin It's just when you read them all together you cannot fathom how he has got away with it for so long.
  11. Looking forward to his next article "Rooney the Rotten" March - - Ankle-gate. After twisting his ankle against Munich he performed miracles in making the return leg. Only a lucky strike from Robben stopped Sir Alex from fulfilling his destiny once again. April - Wayne's ankle makes another dramatic recovery only to fail within minutes. Instead of looking a fool Sir Alex is surely trying to get England's greatest player fit for the World Cup. - Wayne is voted 2010 PFA Player of the Year. May - Wayne sits at home with England's ankle in a cast. June/July - After conning the nation he is fit Wayne disappears in South Africa (possibly looking for Winnie Mandela who he has heard is a bit of alright) - His quote "Nice to see your home fans boo you, that's loyal supporters" has still to be apologised for. It is rumoured Wayne actually looked away when Clint Dempsey's shot went in. Had he spotted Winnie in the crowd. August - After some time off he spent money trying to stop allegations of a sex scandal. People were on his side as the person involved was 21 and not the usual age his taste required. Sir Alex wins the Community Shield and heralds the next greatest player in the world. A dracula haired Bulgarian who was purchased at some slight expense and was sure to fulfil his destiny with Sir Alex at his side. September - Wayne throws away all his Bob Marley CDs. All he can hear is "No Woman No Kai". He is saved from this song by being "rested" for the game at the home of bitterness Goodison Park. Again Sir Alex has stopped a potential flashpoint with his brilliance. October - The devious plan by Wayne to get more money is hatched. He says what everyone knows - Fletcher, O'Shea, Anderson and others are crap. They are not fit to play in his brilliance. His one goal in open play is the one he dines out on. He claims that the great Sir Alex has lied about his ankle. It was not his ankle that was the problem but his loins throbbing every pension day. He wanted more money for his brilliance but instead was sent to a Nike factory to pack shoes. "That would show him" said Sir Alex, "I will show him the true value of money, he can work with all those kids and old women". It was then that Sir Alex realised his mistake. He called the Ginger one in the USA. Like the Wizard of Oz nobody saw Malcolm Glazer, he was too ginger for people to deal with. He explained his predicament and he masterfully gained a new contract for the greedy Wayne. All was now well. November - Wayne repays him by scoring a penalty. The ManU fans love him again. Thank the Lord for Sir Alex. Copyright LMA 2010 (Allegedly).
  12. Oh crap just copied and pasted from the Mail article. Didn't spot that.
  13. linky El-Hadji Diuof has reignited a war of words with former team-mate Jamie Carragher branding the Liverpool defender as 'nothing'. The Blackburn Rovers forward was singled out by Carragher in the star's recent autobiography, saying ex-Anfield chief Gerard Houllier made a massive £10million mistake when he signed the Senegal star in 2002 over Nicolas Anelka. Carragher wrote: 'In all my years at Anfield, I have never met a player who cared less about winning or losing. 'His name - along with that of Salif Diao - still makes even the toughest Liverpudlians shudder in fear.' But furious Diouf hit back by launching a scathing attack on Carragher, who has been earmarked by the Football Association as a future international coach. 'Carragher is just a guy who loves to talk. Carragher, for me, is nothing,' 'If Liverpool had 10 players like Carragher, then they would never win anything. 'Hes like a make of ketchup or mustard to a normal person, not important. I played for Liverpool for two years and Carragher never spoke to me. Thats life, some people are like that.' Diouf believes he was targeted by the 32-year-old defender because he was 'jealous' of the wages he was on when he arrived at Anfield eight years ago from Lens. 'When I played at Liverpool, Carragher could have talked to me then - but he didnt, ' he added. 'He was jealous of me - thats why he talked about me. Because when I came to Liverpool I earned more than him and I was a bigger name than him. 'We didnt have a team at Liverpool. We had the English somewhere and the French boys somewhere. If its like that, you can do nothing together. 'I took my country to the World Cup and to the finals of the African Nations Cup. 'So Carragher cant criticise me because, to me, he has done nothing with his life. 'But Carragher doesnt sell papers, Carragher doesnt sell shirts.' Diouf was a surprise selection on the top 100 players in the world once submitted by footballing greats Pele and Diego Maradona and the Blackburn star insists their praise puts Carragher's criticism to shame. He said: 'Im not going to listen to what Carragher says. 'I listen to the big men, the greats of football. Both said very good things about me.' (The last paragraph send shivers through my spine - Top 100 players by Viagra Man and Coke Charlie!)
  14. From Metro website Ozil going to the Mancs. They even have his link on their player info page. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/837768-mesut-ozil-manc Mesut Ozil's profile page on the Manchester United website Oops! Mesut Ozil's profile page on the Manchester United website Either that, or someone is due to get a major dressing down after a bit of a site development botch job gone wrong. Or is it just a hacker with too much time on his hands? At the time of writing, this link to the Mesut Ozil profile on the Manchester United site works. Expect it to come down pretty sharpish now though! Just put in Ozil Manutd.com and stories will lead you to the link. Could it be like Robinho on the Chelsea website a couple of years ago?
  15. "On the bright side, at least the journos won't be able to have a go at us over rotation this term. We've got no spare players to rotate." It will be: Play Kuyt up top Going 4-4-2 with Kuyt up top Zonal marking 60 minute substitutions and not a minute sooner. Don't worry they have plenty to annoy us.

  18. http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=goal...l&type=lgns Slur Alex Ferguson Critical Of Liverpool's Handling Of Michael Owen Michael Owen should have been awarded an extended holiday period by Liverpool following his exploits for an England Under-20 side before he was propelled into international super-stardom, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, who hints that the striker may have received different treatment had he been educated at Manchester United. Ferguson's critique coincided with the club's tour of Malaysia, where Owen excelled in a 1997 tournament for the U-20's, he was immediately reintroduced to the Liverpool team upon his return to England, and then the following summer was afforded little break as he aided England's cause in the 1998 World Cup. Ferguson is quoted by Sport as saying, “We had Ronnie Wallwork and John Curtis playing in that England Under-20 squad in Malaysia in 1997 and when they came back we gave them six weeks off. But Michael went straight into the Liverpool first team then a year later was playing in the World Cup for England. (Curtis and Wallwork watched it on the telly). “That was unfair to a young player to have that kind of strain and intensity one summer after another.” “I wouldn’t have done that but he was such a talent that Liverpool needed him in the team and then England needed him in the World Cup.” Ferguson then added that he fully expects Owen to repay the faith that the Scot has given him, and that he will silence his very vocal critics. “Experience is vital and I know Michael will score a lot of goals for us. “He will give us experience in the penalty box. That is what he has been great at for years.” The difference being that Wallwork and Curtis where sh*te and nowhere near the first team. Owen was good enough for the Premier League at 18. Where are these two players now. I know Wallwork got stabbed but not heard of Curtis for a while. Maybe not resting them caused them NOT to be world class. Can't wait for your next great insight into football Mr Ferguson.
  19. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-n...00252-24285020/ " A LIVERPOOL city trader has acquired the trademark to Everton FC’s official logo – The People’s Club. Brian Gould, 58, a market stall trader from Walton and lifelong Everton fan was granted the rights to the phrase last year to sell his scarves and hats. Although the phrase was coined by Everton manager David Moyes in his very first press conference at Goodison in 2002, the club did not protect their rights by registering it. Mr Gould claims he first sold flags bearing the motif at the Scottish manager’s first away game at Derby. The trader, also treasurer of campaign group Keep Everton In Our City, now wants Everton to sit down and discuss terms over his rights. Club official merchandise has been designed with labels bearing The People’s Club logo and Goodison Park famously flies a banner with the brand. Mr Gould’s barrister Francis McEntegart, of Chime Legal Services, wrote to Blues management in May informing them of his client’s rights. Everton wrote back via their solicitors but Mr McEntegart was able to prove Mr Gould’s rightful ownership. At Everton’s recent shareholder’s meeting, chief executive Robert Elstone said the club was planning to move away from using the phrase. It will instead promote its famous Latin motto Nil Satis Nisi Optimum – Nothing but the Best is Good Enough. But Everton FC spokesman Ian Ross said: “The decision to move away from The People’s Club has nothing to do with Mr Gould at all. “We did market research with fans and this was something that came up. “They consistently gave us a different response to the one we had for the previous six years. It was time for a change but is the sort of fundamental decision that we don’t do overnight. Especially as The People’s Club logo has proven so popular.” Mr Gould, who runs a stall on Williamson Square, said: “We want them to keep using it because when David Moyes came we were battling relegation year in year out and this gave us something to cling on to. It brought pride back to Everton. “I’d never ever do anything that’s detrimental to the club, we just need to sit down and talk to them.” Mr McEntegart said the matter could easily be wrapped up with his client. “He has been trading on it for years and even got one of Everton’s own suppliers to back up the fact that orders dated back to 2002 – long before the club itself put any orders in. Everton has just signed up to a deal with Kitbag and I’m sure Kitbag didn’t get that for free. “We are happy to work with Everton FC on this and haven’t ever said we don’t want them to use it.” Mr Ross said the club is negotiating to find a satisfactory conclusion.". Moyes obviously must have bought a scarf on his way from the train station to Goodison before he got the bus. - Hence coming out with the saying when he was introduced to the 2 men and their dog at the press conference. Welcome to Goodison Mr Moyes, No you can't claim on your bus ticket. We're not made of money you know.
  20. With Giggs winning it surely PFA means Played F** All.
  21. Fergie yesterday after Manc Riley didn't give them their usual penalty. Rafa telling him that he can't fly! Fly Fergie Fly
  22. From BBC's website: 77 min: Nottingham Forest midfielder Paul Anderson gets stretchered off with what looks like a broken arm or dislocated shoulder and is replaced by Arron Davies. Paul Connolly has been booked for his part in the clash that led to Anbderson sustaining his injury. He was getting treatment for quite some time, so there should be a fair bit of added time. It did look broken on the coverage.
  23. Can he last a month without getting injured. Carra get your left foot ready!
