From what I've heard, there isn't a whole lot of cash available for transfers. This is beacuse we cant offload the highly paid fringe players and the owners won't cough up the dollars until this happens. However, they have apparently upped the bid for Downing to £15m plus Koncheskey. Also believed to have offered Cole, Aquilani, plus cash for Lennon. Jovanovic told not to come back to the club as well!

All things considered, it's an entire team that needs replacing, not just one player. So sell Torres, get your 40m and put that with your summer transfer kitty. I would have thought, an extra 35m or so would be provided by the owners. So thats 70-80 million for new players. I'd much prefer that, than holding onto a player we don't know will be fit from one week to the next and with a sulk like a cow's yawn. Four of five quality players and we'll be saying Fernando who?
