Totally agree with you, however it's Rafa who makes the decisions and I recall the frostiness at the time from his statements, I remember thinking his days then were numbered. On a personal basis, I'd have done exactly the same!!!

I think Alonso's days were numbered (in Rafa's eyes) when he put his family before the team. He wanted to be at the birth of his child when we had an important game and to Rafa that was the end!! (only speculating!)

I think Rafa needs a Number 2 - individually, the form of many of our players has dropped - plummeted in some instances. I put some of this down to the departure of Pako. We need an Assistant Manager to help Rafa, get some of the confidence back for some individuals, get everybody playing as a team and then decide who we need replacing. Might not be as many as people think currently.

Any more info on this?? Who was in the frame?? Who stopped it and when?? Is there any chance that he'll be able to appoint one now the deal has been finalised?? I think a No.2 is the next vital signing we have to make, we've been very inconsistent since Pako left.

No - it'd only ruin their confidence too - we need to get to the nub of the problem first before we start throwing more players on the pitch!

Completely agree - the next signing Rafa should make is a number 2 to replace Pako, whatever Pako used to do (whether it was motivating, individual training, tactics, etc.) isn't being done now. It seems as though the players are totaly bewildered as to what they should be doing - with the exception of Torres who knows his job is to score goals. At the begining of the season, the squad looked quite strong on paper and individuals were playing well, however since then the standard of play has dropped and the team seems lost. It's too much of a co-incidence to say that everybody's confidence is low at the same time, there must be a reason for it. I don't think we'll gain anything by getting rid of Rafa, he's proved himself in the past, however, it's vital we get someone to work alongside him and get the team playing again.

I think we need another installment from Bob Wright about Slovakian gypsys and the lucky number 37!!!
