It really f***s me off when people criticise others for feeling worried about our transfer window. It's not because people are naturally negative or full of doom and gloom, it's because our previous few transfer windows have been shambolic and embarrassing. We finished second primarily because of Rodgers pulling off a miracle with the limited squad and an unbelievable season from Suarez. Not a million miles from what rafa and Gerrard did in the CL in 2005. Didn't mean we had a particularly good squad then and doesn't now. We are now losing our best player, and one of the better attacking players in Europe, who plays for the team we are selling Suarez to and is unwanted by them, is choosing f***ing arsenal over us it seems. We've so far spent £40m, and while I'm not disappointed with any of them as such, I don't think they are shoe ins for the first team and not the top top draw players we have been lead to believe we are in for. Put it this way, I don't think man city, utd, Chelsea or arsenal will be bricking themselves at us losing Suarez and buying Lambert, Can and Lallana. As of those strongly linked, only shaquiri excites me but think he is just trying to force bayerns hand for a new contract . Markovic doesn't seem all that to me, nor Moreno. Feel a bit meh over lovren - £20m for him when we have similar quality defenders IMO. Ironically origi or whatever his name is looks a real handful but looks like going straight back on loan FFS. We said plenty of times during the last 3 or 4 windows, 'it's early days' and 'stop the panicking' and they ended up pretty abysmally. We are in a great position of being league runners up, in CL with plenty of money even before the Suarez money, we cannot afford to f***ing blow this.

All I know is if we don't carefully manage this it could go down in history as our biggest pre season disaster of all time. Forget the diouf and Robbie Keane summers. Lose Suarez abd miss our on big targets or only get average players and quantity over quality and it will really hurt. In many ways we don't have a better chance to turn into a top top class team, with so much money to spend and on the back of a great season with momentum , champions league etc. If I'm honest I'm not sure I trust our transfer 'team' and chief exec to actually get it right
-
Also reports that deal agreed for Suarez, $79m euros, but looking through tinterweb it seems it has stemmed from a Spanish journo who had heard it. Ben Smith saying no deal other than barca told Liverpool at the Wednesday meeting they would meet the clause in contract. If we get straight cash, think you can kiss goodbye to Sanchez
-
Your just know it's going to be another s hit summer of will he stay out won't he stay and will we get A B or C targets and ended up with X and Y and maybe Z on loan on the last couple of days. Reality is, the mancs, having finished well outside the top four, are securing big money targets early, no f***ing around

I've found myself defending Suarez constantly. Defended him over Evra. Rightly so imo. Defended him over the ivanovic incident and particularly the 10 game ban for biting, even though the incident was ludicrous. Lots of you on here are going to hate this as I can see many playing it down already, but I think doing this again is f***ing insane and personally am f***ed off by it all, drags our name through the mud again, this time by association. The guy is a phenomenon on the field but I can't defend it at all. And the constant complaints about the media etc, being a prick last summer and I've come to think just take the money and f***ing run. Don't take this as a personal vendetta, I love the guy from a football perspective. But this is really a step too far

Let's hope it's the Star taking it from the German journos and not the other way round
-
Are we signing anyone?
-
Eh? He is the chief exec and is also responsible for transfer negotiations. We have failed f***ing miserably in recent windows, ergo, you do the math.......
-
This is part of my worry. Nobody really knows how he will be because he's not really proven. 7 games in the CL? Biscan played a fair few CL games too. Also, the German league is a 2 team league and he plays for one of the others. like I say he might turn out great. But in such an important position I want proven quality. We've had too many 'prospects' who have never made it. We've got a massive opportunity here finishing second, CL to offer players plus the extra money it brings and massive tv money. Utd have no Europe to offer. Let's go and spend big. Why can't we have draxler or kroos. Not sure Can and lallana for £30+ million is the answer.... 100% agree.
-
I know we've not even signed the kid but this is the sort of transfer I was hoping we wouldn't make. Not saying there's anything wrong with him but I don't want to be spending 1/5th of our budget on a 'prospect' who might be competition for Gerrard or Lucas our allen. I want established players. Players who will walk into the team, and other kosher because their competition. I see this as only a small step forward on Luis Alberto signing. Highly rated youngster who might make it. Emphasis on 'might'. Just a passing comment, was hoping for more instant quality. Not sure this is the quantity over quality that Brendan was talking about

would be good. Not sure I'm happy abut him but our main target this summer though

What a f***ing s*** end to the season

Man city will win I think we all know. But don't get this a draw will be painful nonsense. It would just msn they screwed up like we did and we are back to where we thought we'd be. I.e we thought we'd win and also that city would. The difference though is that they'd go into Sunday thinking if they drew tonight they could easily draw again. So in many ways better than if we both won our games. Anyway, all moot probably as city will win eventually

It wasn't just tired passes from Lucas, which is bad enough at this level. But players were walking past him. From the 60th minute. You can't play with 10 men at this level
-
Johnson was garbage second half. At fault fully or partly for all three. That said, you can talk about Skrtel and Sakho poor defending, but the biggest, dumbest mistake of all was leaving Lucas on. Never in my whole life have I seen a player who can't run, no jog, with 30 odd minutesleft and stay on the pitch. Yes Suarez, Sturridge etc were tired. But this wasn't even tired, it was like nothing I've ever seen and it was for a full 30+ minutes. we carried him for that whole time and effectively had ten men. Add to that Gerrard was none existent in the last 10, you have to question the team as a whole when analysing the defence, abd also the manager for leaving a player on for that long with legs gone
-
Harder to miss the target from where he was then....Jesus
-
Yep, feels weird. All of a sudden the confidence has drained from me and feels like we'll suffer a massive hangover from last week and go out with a whimper
-
you couldn't f***ing make this up. Playing utter filth, ale house tactics trying to time waste from first minute then our captain gifts them goal
-
I know exactly what the problem is with Johnson. His legs are going. He's always been a marauding, quality attacking full back, with slight deficiency defensively. But I noticed about 18 months ago he looked leggy after making his usual busts forward. I know from experience, I've played football for as long asicould walk and had a lot of pace, but as i got older every sprint gets tougher and tougher and your legs get heavier and mistakes creep in. It's been something I've been watching for a while and I just think it's as simple as that, his legs can't keep up with what he wants to do and he's very error prone because of it. Was one the best full backs few years ago but really struggling now. Definitely not because heis to causal though
-
Perhaps the biggest bottling by aref you'll ever see. Just given a clear penno to the away teamand was to scared to dissallow a goal even though the linesman flashed for ffree kick from a better position. f***ing outrageous.....

Can't f***ing stick this!!!! JFW
