Robbie keane is neither a lone striker or an in the hole type player. He operates best playing alongside rather than significantly deeper than another forward who can hold the ball up with either skill or physical presence. He would probably be best suited to playing alongside Kuyt in a 442 rather than in a 4231. For me position wise he isn't that different a player to Owen maybe with slightly better feet but a worse finisher. As for the Torres/Keane pairing for Keane to be at his most effective they would have to mirror the Spain tactics from the euro's. Torres would have to sacrifice part of his game for Keane as he did for Villa, by running the channels and allowing Keane to move into the box. However Keane is not a reliable finisher like Villa and therefore can not jusify the sacrificing of Torres natural game.
I have always been confident that if Robbie Keane doesn't work out that Sunderland would pay about £15 mil for him because of the Irish/Roy keane/Niall Quin connection.
He really is everything but goals. Does all the right things, lovely skills and touch but just can't buy a goal for Betis. He's a very similar player to Sergio Garcia at Zaragoza. He is talented but would probably frustrate the hell out of us if came here.
He looks a good prospect.I was very impressed with him in the emirates tournament last summer albeit they were only friendlies, thought Wenger would have snapped him up then.
