From what I understand the £100M was a partial reduction of the overall debt to improve cashflow for the club, i.e. not all the profits generated was not going to service debt, in effect the club running to stand still. H&G in their original financing to buy out the club always planned to restructre these loans, the financial collapse put paid to that. They bought the club on expensive short term debt which they couldnt refinance, not as bad as the glazers who borrowed some of their funding from hedge funds at a whopping 14%.

All the reports seem to confirm it's no longer about what Hicks wants but what he (and Gillett) are now required to do if they are to get their six month extension. True. This is the end game now. 6 month extension on condition they sell up 100%. In effect its like you want to sell your car, you put in a car auction (Barclays) with a reserve price, (£300M) , if after 6 months you dont sell , car financing company (RBS) will tell you accept nearest best offer.

Considering some potential investors would not deal with Hicks again after his conduct during sales negotiations over the last 3 years the appointment of Barclays capital & Broughton must be seen as good thing. One thing I think we all agree is that the squad needs to be rebuilt, so perhaps should consider changing the Captain and Vice Captain to Torres and Reina for next season. Gerrard has not led the team this year, give it to Torres and let Gerrard concentrate on his own game, as for Carra he might not be able to hold his place next season so perhaps Reina should be considered. Maybe the Gerrard change is too much but seriously would consider making Reina vice-captain.

The thing that gets me about Whelans constant criticism of Rafa is that is so unbalanced. Its almost likes he personally hates him or has deep grudge against him.
