Extremely hard in this current economic environment to grow revenue , football , leisure sector or retail or mfg. Lots of price competiveness out there. We just playing catch up on previous lost opportunities on the commerical side. Going from a corner shop run operation to something approaching a modern commerical one.

Part about Ayres contract does not make sense, any executive can be moved on , company would have to pay X amount by Y months salary but usually sorted out as company can always argue poor performance , not meeting targets , or creating poor culture atmosphere in the company.

Do the transfer committee have an input into renewal of contracts for players? I imagine they would using same methodology used to sign players.

Yes, him playing the RCB Toure role in the squad would make sense. Maybe he just didn't fancy this role. It will come out eventually in the summer I reckon.

For his family and himself the decision to go is correct as LFC were not exactly falling over themselves to keep him. Whatever the reasons from FSG , and they had to be financial not football, we should have looked to keep him like Maldini at Milan and Giggs at MUFC. Both one club players groomed for non football roles in club. Personally gutted to see him leave and for me just another step on the ladder of this club to perpetual mediocrity , living on fading past glories, I just don't see this FSG crowd gamble to bring us back now. It will be step by step to restore previous mismanagement from Moores , Hicks etc and after that sell up.

Think Llalana , coutinho, sterling, markovic have to do a lot of working in closing down opposition defence , miles run per game , counter attacking etc , so another option to help rotate these would help I would guess is the logic. Still need 2 more central midfielders though .

For midfield would love us to get Schnederlin in now during January and Pjanic (Roma) & Ross Barkely in summer. Not sure we have the ambition anymore though as a club.
