We aren't in a position where we should be taking such a big punt though. Sure, every appointment's a punt, but giving someone with no proven track record at a big club and qualifying for CL (which is where we wanna go in the short term) is far bigger a risk than appointing someone who has taken teams to the top and has CL experience

Think it's Hodgson all over again in terms of the logic of why he'd be alright (And let's face it, quite a few people actually liked his appointment back then). The whole more resource thing, better players, etc etc. It's a big risk, coz not every manager copes with that. We need someone with a proven track record of being good with quality players and know how to use resources to compete at a CL level

Wonder whether the fans will have an influence on who should/shouldn't be the new manager, at least in the public arena. Rightly or wrongly, of course If FSG employs someone who is clearly not fancied by the fans, and the first couple of results are s***, the pressure would be f***ing unbearable and could lead to a point of no return

If FSG are in dialogue with Rafa about who should manage this club, I cannot see that Rafa would recommend anyone else but himself

They'd be f***ing crazy not to If they think getting a young incumbent with potential is what we need right now then they are wrong. We need to get back in the CL asap and that means we need a manager with a proven track record for success. Which really leaves Capello Klopp or Rafa Just realise I could be Purslow since he said something similar yesterday, f*** me

The more and more you look at the potential (realistic) candidates, the more you want Rafa back. None of them hold a candle to him

They couldn't have possibly sacked someone if they don't already have talked to a couple of options. Surely not We thought they would stick with Hodgson for the whole season as well, then suddenly they got Kenny in. They tend to be more thorough about these things than just being trigger happy

He used Mikel at the start of the season and he did his job there though, but then suddenly he just went for Mereiles in the big games and it was a f***ing laugh He just stubbornly went with the high line when it was evident he couldn't drop John Terry and that they were leaking goals like nuts on the counter. That Chelsea team sure played some lovely football under him in patches, but still not convinced that he did a good job at all there. You can say the players turned on him and ate him inside out, but that might be for a reason. Nothing he did at Chelsea convinces me that he is the man for our job long term

I don't doubt that you can, but it's only my opinion that AVB wouldn't do much better with this squad than Kenny without great player additions. He could always make a c*** outta me (easy to do) and finish 3rd

Nope, this squad should be doing far better, but you could've said the same about the squad AVB had at Chelsea. People said they didn't wanna play for him, but he did some absolutely daft things, like Mereiles at holding midfield, or playing that stupid high line with John f***ing Terry. Just really not convinced that he's the type who can squeeze the best outta the current squad. You can imagine a Capello or Rafa doing that, but dunno about AVB

a year ago i would have taken avb and be bloody happy about it. Why doeagene year make it all different. Probably coz his teams generally play good football but he set the chelsea team up in such a crazy way defensively
