I do not understand people who criticise Benites for selling Keane in the Jan window. It is not as if Keane is scoring loads at the moment. That said Bellamy is going through a rich vein of form now.

Maybe we should start a campaign where we send a match report of such infringes to the FA each time Rooney, Terry or other players do this. We should do a Rafa and alert them to the number of incidents. -
I wonder where is the Benayoun and Lucas haters critics now. Support the team. 2-0 up and still under 30 minutes. This is either title winning form....(fingers crossed).

Fantastic game. First match day thread without the usual moaning about players.... no wonder it is still such a short thread. Imagine 3-0, playing well without Torres, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Aurelio (our usual first 11). Continue this style of play, and we will bring the trophy home. Well done lads.

Very hard for a young player trying to break into the first 11 when there is Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano in front of him. Anyway, he is about the same level as Sissoko (albeit a different type of midfielder). Good to have and will develop as Gerrard and Alonso ages. -

The team performed really well. Their hearts were in it and the team kept shape either moving forward/tracking back as a unit. This is the reason why Chelsea were reduced to lopping hopeful long balls. The expressions on Lampard and Terry resorting to an ugly elbow on Reina are signs that they know that they were beaten. And squarely beaten at that. Well done Reds!

I cannot agree with Arbeloa, Xabi and Gerrard's rating. Arbeloa is boss on the right. Does well going forward and decent in defending. Xabi and Gerrard had to battle a midfield five, and it was obvious Wigan wanted to press and tackle our midfield for the 2nd ball. They did okay and after the Wigan players tire out in the 2nd half, quality shines through.

All give me plenty to be cheerful about.

We scored 2 goals tonight. We can do the same at Stamford Bridge. We just need to play Arbeloa at LB instead.
