I don't get this either. Couple of weeks ago people were saying he had been our best player in recent games. He's not the issue. Carra is more of an issue in this team than Masch or Lucas. The constant hoofing from the back effectively bypassed the midfield anyway, not that Carra was the only culprit but he is the worst I think.

Sounds fair enough really, although I do think we would get overrun with both Gerrard and Aquilani in there. It'd be one defensive and one offensive for me, probably Gerrard deep with Aquilani forward as he needs time to get used to the league. And just to be pedantic its actually 11 points from 15 which is far from relegation form. Not perfect of course.

Was expecting that and yes, just like the second half of that season. Unfortunately that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

How much would we all like to see some passing, attacking football ? After Houllier and now this boring nonsense I'm craving a manager that knows how to actually send a team out to tear the other apart.

This is the most annoying thing. We weren't under threat so changes were not going to be a big risk, the team was really struggling for coherence and still only one sub. No logic can defend that in my eyes, subs are there to change the game and when we are in desperate need Rafa just ignored the possibility. Fuming at this..

me too. it's my default position though. my one remaining hope is that this weak team they have has the potential for a really poor run of results, assuming the refs let it happen of course. they've already lost 5 (?) and I can see that increasing

I think the Masch and Lucas combo is the right choice here. Spurs will come at us with their tails up and those 2 can stop that and hopefully get the ball to the forward players. Riera can at least make the ball stick wide, pulling the spurs defence a little wider and allowing Aqua some room in the middle. So that all sounds good to me, as for Kuyt up front on his own. Feck knows how that will go but at least, even when he's at his worst, he has good movement.

IF Rafa leaves us I'd take him in a heartbeat, best replacement we could possible hope for.

Unbelievable. That's us screwed for 4th. Should Rafa manage to get there I think he deserves credit rather than being damned for the poor season.

Even is we did that's not the real problem with last night. To make the system work we need to have players in wide positions who can receive the ball and stretch the play. How many times did we approach their box with 3-4 players standing within 5 yards of the D ?

Not saying that at all but sometimes you can have a poor performance and get away with it, that penalty might' have meant that. Overall reading deserved the win.
