  1. No, trust me I am almost 49 (and I idolised Keegan) but you'd have to be delusional to put him ahead of Dalglish. Similarly I am baffled as to how anybody, who had seen both play, could put Giggs over Best. Your Duncan Edwards was a legend tho' lord knows how old you'd need to be to have seen him in action.
  2. Spot on, he just might improve our squad but I think he's better than just a bit part player and I think it would be a bad move for him in that respect.
  3. I'm sure it would make some fans feel a bit better but it shouldn't be done, some players respond to that kind of rollicking whilst others will suffer a total loss of confidence and morale and a manager simply can't afford to have one rule for one and another for someone else - not publicly.
  4. Yes definitely, both stoop to any means to get results, difference being Leeds would kick the crap out of you because back then you were unlikley to get red carded unless a lump-hammer was involved, whereas now that physical contact is frowned upon playacting and diving are Chelsea's modud operandi. Gamesmanship is still the appropriate word however.
  5. I may well be wrong here but I thought Van Basten was moaning mainly about his move to Villareal rather than us?
  6. I wasn't a huge fan of Finnan when he was signed, nor JAR as I didn't believe either were really good enough for Liverpool, but I'm happy to consider myself well and truly proved wrong. I would say that our current back 5 unit is the most consistently solid since the legendary Arsenal one that Wenger inherited.
  7. No not a cat in hell's chance. Altho' there are similarities between LFC last season and Arsenal this as regards the league, we always looked capable of keeping a clean sheet, I don't think Arsenal are and in any case Arsene Wenger has never had a Plan B.
  8. Spot on and 90%+ of fans wouldn't even know it happened.
  9. Good shout but I can't see him leaving Reading for Newcastle, he doesn't seem like a basket case to me.
  10. I'm not sure Xabi could have done a lot else really, it was right at that awkward height, he couldn't have risked leaving it and Pepe almost kept it out but it was just too close to goal. Terrible goal to concede nonetheless.

    Defoe

First time I've used it, 'tis true tho' at least Defoe is suited to the Prem.

    Defoe

I'm not a huge fan of Defoe but I'd take him over Cisse in a heartbeat.
  13. I think the journo has nailed it, most City fans do appreciate Robbie so I reckon he'll get a better reception than expected. The major factor being is that Robbie is a fan and there seem to be precious few of them left amongst today's Premiership "stars", and all fans of whatever club appreciate that because they identify with the sentiment.

  15. Yeah but if Robbie Keane had put away that chance after half time and it was Spurs doing it (which they would have been) there'd be loads of us moaning about it too - me included! Can't blame 'em for that myself.
  16. Most of what has been mentioned in this thread is spot on but the guy is never going to do anything to justify the price tag unless he gets a string of matches and I just can't see that happening.
  17. 3. Newcastle and Exeter City both play at St James Park.
  18. Maybe in the past but since the final against Milan I can't say I've noticed and he was certainly awesome in that game (after half-time) and I don't think Lampard has that in his locker.
  19. He's good but I think he flatters to decieve, he is often anonymous against top opposition IMHO.
  20. No it isn't fair but it has happened for as long as I can remember and I don't see it changing any time soon - unless the PC lunatics get a bee in their bonnet about it and then fans will no longer be able to chant "should've gone to specsavers" at referees.
  21. ......and bizarre refereeing decisions. Spurs "goal" against Manure for example as well as countless cards not being given or given for no apparent reason.
